Havana?

Yeah probably. I mean we have one with Mississippi Valley State, so I figure we have one with Havana too.

Playing Dillard's would make more sense in wrestling than basketball. We'd have a chance to get a belt.

I think the conference is just being cheap. I think if we all made a top 5 list of where you would like the basketball tourney. nobody besides UAB fans would have Birmingham in their top 5 list. Even the WAC is having theirs in Las Vegas.

Odd, the feedback from most of the people on this board has been pretty positive.

I'll add, since you're not thrilled with my hometown, that Little Smaug is in the UAB pep band, and know what she said when I asked her about El Paso?

You suggested Mobile as a site for a Conf USA tournament, you can stop posting now.

i'm all for b'ham. easy drive for topper fans.

i honestly can't imagine anything i'd be interested in there other than the hoops. but that's fine with me.

what it should do is shut up some of our whiny fans that couldn't stop crying about hot springs. we'll see if they show up now that it's such easy travel.

should be the best location for good attendance. from multiple schools.

No need to go there. There would be a culture shock for any young adult from one city visiting the other. The area around UTEP is beautiful I'll add though.

All in fun. She had a great time. Helluva bus ride, though, which is most everybody's issue with El Paso. It's nothing personal. It's a geographic outlier.

He wasn't talking about coors piss water

He meant that we have two really good breweries downtown with good people and Avondale

I like it in Birmingham. I think in the future we will see it in Charlotte, Nashville, San Antonio and Norfolk VA.

i would rather it been somewhere else I been through Bham over 20 times in the last year and never thought about stopping...

the people that ***** and cry about a 7 hour drive {wku fans} will still keep their butts glued to a tv or pc.

much rather s. miss got it at least you are with in a short drive to the gulf and beaches.

I'm liking that the conference is moving it around, not like the CAA that kept it in Richmond for 20 plus years giving VCU a huge advantage. Don't get me wrong it was great having the tournament close and having sold out crowds. The ODU vs VCU games were a tough ticket. But it got old the same place every year and who goes to Richmond for a vacation.

just because UTSA isn't a basketball school that doesn't mean that Birmingham is a better destination that San Antonio. San Antonio has hosted NCAA tournament games for quite sometime and they are very well attended. Maybe the fact that UTSA isn't a very good basketball school is more of a reason why UTSA has a low basketball attendance.

RE: Not a Fan of Birmingham for Basketball Tourney
I would be pissed if the conference put a conference tournament in a city where the host averages 1000 fans. It has nothing to do with the city, it has everything to do with people showing up to the event. There is a huge difference between an NCAA tournament game, and a C-USA conference tournament game. I really doubt the city is going to get behind a finals matchup of ODU and Charlotte.

CUSA is not the NCAA tournament. The quality drops off somewhat. You can't surmise that because people attend the NCAA's, they'll attend the CUSA tournament.

Because CUSA has such crappy support everywhere, the tournament will be poorly attended no matter where it is, and there will be complaints everywhere.

It might as well be moved around. Moving target is harder to hit.

Again, who said Birmingham was a better destination than San Antonio? Why are you on this personal vendetta about Birmingham?

How about this, most of our fanbases wouldn't travel to Miami, Charlotte, Dallas, San Antonio, or Nashville anyway. You talk a good game but the proof is in the stands and in your pockets.

And for those that don't like Birmingham that's fine. Stay your asses at home and stick your middle ya middle finger in your butt, pull it out and suck on it. The city don't need your kind anyways.

A personal vendetta against Birmingham? Really?!? Haha maybe I am talking about Birmingham because thats what this thread is about....
I don't have anything against Birmingham, I've been there a few times. I am the type that likes to travel. I just believe that the tournament should be in a tourist city where the visiting fans can enjoy their time there while they aren't watching basketball. If we are going to rely on a school to support attendance, then we should just have it at the school that has the highest attendance for that year and let them win it too so they won't be kicked out of the tournament, therefore making the stands full.
