The 2012-13 APR numbers for ODU Athletics
I just took a look at the latest APR fugures for all athletic programs at ODU for 2012-13, and they are very good. None of our programs appear to be close to any trouble.

I know Wood Selig has some detractors here, for various reasons, and I thought it would be good to take a look at the five year trends for the various programs starting in 2008-09. I think these numbers prove that Selig is serious about the academic well being of ODU Athletics, and it's student athletes. I think he, along with many others, have done a wonderful job in this regard. You will see that most of the program's APR's have gone up, some dramatically. The programs I would place an asterisk by are Men's Swimming, Womens Golf, and Lacrosse, and Rowing (because the numbers for these were relatively high to begin with, and Womens Basketball which showed only a modest 2 pt. rise over five years, but a 42 point rise over the last three years.

Baseball 949-970 (+21)
Field Hockey 969-993 (+24)
Football 896-942 (+46)
M. Basketball 947-955 (+8)
M. Golf 963-972 (+9)
M. Soccer 938-958 (+20)
M. Swimming 965-966 (+1)*
M. Tennis 961-1000 (+39)
Wrestling 923-972 (+49)
W. Basketball 950-952 (+2)*
W. Golf 992-1000 (+8)*
Lacrosse 971-990 (+19)
Rowing 1000-989 (-11)*
W. Soccer 991-997 (+6)
W. Swimming 956-974 (+18)
W. Tennis 990-990 (EVEN)

Congratulations to all of the athletic department, the professors, the academic advisors, and mostly to all of the Monarch student athletes past and current.
Epic Applause

Big attaboys (and attagirls) to all of ODU's student athletes, their coaches, the athletics staff and Wood Selig. These kinds of across-the-board improvements do not happen unless there is emphasis at all levels -- from the top down. To top it off, our teams are also competing strongly in our new FBS conference.

Great job guys and gals. You make your Monarch fans proud.

I am curious. Exactly what kind of "negative" comment were you expecting someone to post on a thread that is solely about positive academic performance?

On-line irrationality comes in many forms. Sometimes it takes the form of a poster who insists on being negative just for the sport of getting a rise out of others. Other times it comes in the form of someone who insists on creating straw-man issues where none exists.

Both forms, I believe, are commonly known as "trolling".
