USF Strength/Conditioning Coach suspended, then resigns after tweet on former player
Crazy situation at USF, where their strength & conditioning coach Straub tweeted this after the 49ers selected USF DL Aaron Lynch in the 5th round:

"Thought an organization with 5 Super Bowl titles would have a stricter draft criteria. Clearly, integrity & character are not a priority."

It was announced he was initially suspended, then it was formerly announced that he resigned (i.e. forced out).

Strength Coach Staub was one of USF Head Coach Willie T's first hires at USF.

I have to believe there was a good bit of truth behind that tweet. In which case, why was Lynch still in the lineup? When a guy isn't busting his tail in the weight room and on the practice field, you have to bury him on the depth chart. Letting him start, just sends a bad message to the rest of the team.

Lol poor choice of words by the Stregth and Conditioning Coach. Granted I don't think S&C coaches are the brightest guys; but that's just really poor judgement to make a public statement like that.

I agree with USF firing the guy.

Accountability matters again at USF and nobody is bigger than the program. Straub to exception to Lynch's tweets shortly after he left USF.

BTW, for those questioning CWT by playing Lynch, his issue had nothing to do with ability or even loafing but rather just inconsistent play and mental makeup. The kid either got either too high or too low on himself while fighting what was a terrible USF season and his attempt to come back after a long layoff. Moreover, he was one of our better DL last year and was actually very good over the last 6 games when he started to "get it". He likely cost himself a lot of money by leaving early....and his immaturity. I wish him well b/c he was a Bull....but admit that he is likely the least liked USF player drafted into the NFL in our short history. He won't last very long in SF under...ironically...former USF Coach Jim Leavitt who is the LB coach. Should be interesting to see what he does and with the 49ers injuries at the position Lynch may have a chance.

Yes, Straub had to go. Even if his comments were accurate, they were ill-advised and bring negative repercussions to USF. Have to be smarter than that.
