Travis Custis and Jabari Hunt-Days ruled ineligible for 2014
... due to academics.

Hunt-Days was a starting LB last year and was going to be a starting DE this year. Custis was projected to have serious playing time at B-Back. Custis is leaving GT and transferring to Georgia Military College.

This means in the last 30 days or so: Vad Lee has transferred, Anthony Williams (backup-DL) has transferred, Dave Walkosky (special teams coordinator) and quit his job, and Matt Griffin (director of player personnel) has quit his job.

The AJC has noticed and ran the doom up the flagpole.

You should be happy. Anything to hasten Johnson out the door, even if it's a bit painful along the way.

I don't hold it against PJ that much truth be told. His offenses have produced. The problem has historically been defense, which is finally starting to come around. But the ENORMOUS recruiting deficit is poisonous against the serious competition. No scheme can overcome a bunch of 4/5* people blowing up blocks of 2/3* people. The one time he had just a precious handful of true quality players (Gailey's next to last class) he went to the top with them.

PJ gets about 1/3 of the blame ... and that is all on special teams (remedied ... but now a question mark with Walkosky's departure), defense (getting better), and recruiting (still ATROCIOUS). 2/3 of the blame comes from the top. Radakovich ran a skeleton crew of recruiting staff (WTF?!). There are countless pointless pile-them-on recruiting restrictions. Radakovich's hires have been questionable at best. But he did upgrade facilities like mad. Bobinski so far needs to go the hell back to Xavier. The University President shows no interest in expanding GT's mission and academic offerings despite UGAg getting an engineering school (lol! ... hope you want your **** built out of mud and thatch) ... which would be a win for academics and athletics.

At least Jabari Hunt-Days' parents are proper parents. These of the sort of people you want at GT and won't go to the SEC.

In a move that surprised all: GTech has formally asked to schedule Syracuse 5 times this Fall in Football.

GTS - What do you think happened? Jones was the wonder coach at Navy. He should have been familiar with high academics and restricted recruiting.

Navy has a soft schedule. And Navy recruits nationwide with a huge budget. If Navy played FSU/Clemson/VT/Miami/UGAg every year ... I think you'd see them rack up a GT-esk record.

The offensive scheme does work. But no scheme can solve 4/5* players blowing up blocks of 2/3* players. Most of the losses over the years were directly attributable to defense (getting better) and special teams (solved, but now up in the air with Walkosky's departure).

Thanks GTS. Obviously I meant Johnson but Apple thought I meant Jones.
