This week against HBU.

In B8: C.Teykl doubled through the right side, RBI; Aquino advanced to third; Ewing scored.

It was his third hit and second RBI of the day

We had a pool when Matt Uekert played as to when he would get an extra base hit. The day we created the pool, Matt hit a homer. Well, we created one foe Teykl and it lasted a little longer...

I'm not gonna say he's crying, but let's just say he was strumming some John Mayer feel-sorry-for-yourself crap on his guitar. In the dugout. With Wayne harmonizing. Just sayin'.

Respond that it's been corrected. :--)

Done. He texted back that he doesn't understand why you and temchugh can't hug it out. Then I accidentally sent him a picture of me in the shower, and he didn't reply.

Did anyone else just jump to Warren Nolan's site to start watching RPI in real time?

If we take it all in Omaha this year, I'm gonna be the first one on Warren Nolan's site as soon as that last out is made to see if we move up in RPI to #1.

RE: Rice @ UTSA Saturday game
No reason we should not sweep a weak La Tech team at home. So if we just win tomorrow.

In the first game of a DH, ECU is batting in T15 and has scored two. So, it is looking likely that USM will lose, making this for certain a two way race with UAB. (Of course, USM could have an enormous rally....)

Edit: ECU wins the first game 7-5 in 15. USM drops 3.5 behind us. So it seems as if it is just us and UAB.

Could be, but I'd prefer they saved their best for when the other team's pitcher was on the mound.

Wow, since we swept them a few weeks ago, UAB has won 8 straight conference games. Giving us a run for our money.

BTW, Blake now a perfect 10-0 on the season; 16-0 for his still young Rice career. Today he relied more on heart and smarts rather than stuff. Gutting performance by our "stopper".

Stainback flied out. Boy, is Ford struggling big time at the plate these past 2 - 3 weeks.
Byrd doubled down the line. Welcome back, LBJ!
And another pitching change: Jr RHP Boone Mokry (15 app, 9 starts, 45.2 IP, 3.55 ERA, .277 BAA, 17 BBs, 25 Ks)-- he's their mid-week pitcher...
Cook greets the new pitcher with a first pitch RBI double down the line! 02-13-banana Keep them doubles coming!
Hoelscher struck out on 3 pitches (agains a non-strikeout pitcher!), but Keenan stole 3B an scored on a misplay of the throw by the 3B! 02-13-banana We'll take it. Very aggressive baserunning there (not sure I'd do it with Reeves do up next and a chance to make the 3rd out at 3B-- a no no).
Reeves grounded out.
Nice response, Owls!

Good guys lead 6-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning.

Should have been an earned run. Even without the error, they would have scored a run.

Turns out you were right. Scored officially an earned run.

RE: Rice @ UTSA Saturday game
For the season to date, we are:

23-9 when our opponents start a RHP
10-7 when our opponents start a LHP

Against RHP (298.2 innings) we average:
1.2 hits/inning
0.64 runs/inning
0.43 walks/inning
0.64 strike outs/inning

Against LHP (146 innings) we average:
1.0 hits/inning
0.49 runs/inning
0.29 walks/inning
0.55 strike outs/inning

In our 33 wins, the opponents losing pitcher was a righty in 20 games and a lefty in 13 games.

On the bunt that followed, the batter was clearly out of the box and should have been out.

The left-handed hitter's left foot was directly in front of the plate on the bunt. Wayne protested at the time to no avail, then had another discussion with the ump crew at the end of the inning (the blown call cost a run). He reportedly got an apology from the plate ump.

Two really bad calls at first - in the first Reeves clearly beat out the FC relay for the DP but was called out. In a late inning (9th?) the Rice runner (don't recall who) was clearly out but was called safe. Makeup call?

Nah, those guys were so bad they would have screwed up the make up call too. A high point was Wayne going out between innings to talk to home plate ump. 1st base ump waddles over and puts his hand on Wayne's shoulder. Wayne goes off"get your hands off me" and most of the audible discussion was Wayne explaining why the ump should unhand him.
Another good OG line to Fox or Ditman "you can't strike him out unless he swings" responding to the amazing changing strike zone.
The guys who call our beer league softball are better than this crew.
