On the plus side they are an organization that has done well with developing players and giving them a shot.

Pittsburgh has a long history of getting a lot from "undersized" players. They have a definite need for playmakers and Archer will get an opportunity.

Yep. As a life long Browns fan and a life long realist I have always been impressed with what Pittsburgh does with their personnel. I hope its the right fit and that he has 14 big games a year.

Hate the Steelers, but it's a new link in the Kent State/Steeler chain - Archer, Harrison, Lambert

The Browns traded up to a few picks ahead of Pittsburgh to draft a running back from Towson St. They could have had Archer. We'll see who was right. Until proven differently I am sorry to say I will bet on Pittsburgh.

Sounds like the Steelers are going to use him all over the field.

Per NFL Network's coverage, Dri impressed today and yesterday @ Steelers camp. Hopefully he continues to make the most of his opportunities in camp.

Gonna hate seeing his name on the back of a Stealer's jersey! They stole one away again and you just watch him burn the Browns.....smh!

They didn't steal anything. We passed on him for Terrance West. As a Browns fan and a Kent fan I'm hoping they both turn out to be good.

Still can't believe they took West over Dri. If I'm not mistaken didn't we play Towson in the opener in 2012?? I don't remember being overly impressed by anyone on their team. On the other hand Dri had a kick return for TD that ignited his whole year that night.

So... either I'm just not remebering correctly and maybe West had a great game that night and I turned or blind eye or he had a monster year in 2013 that warranted the pick. It could always be the Browns just don't know what they're doing... that's happened a time or two the last 10 years.

West was "held to 32 yards on 14 carries in season opener at Kent State but scored two touchdowns".

Towson got down too much too quick which has a way of taking a RB out of the scheme, but obviously he is a solid player and that game didn't set him back too much on the scouts radar.

Thanks for the stats hammer... can see why I didn't remember the kid- I definitely remember Dri's 90+ yard kick return that night and.... dare I say Andre Parker's fumble recover in the wrong direction... who woulda thought thats the way Kents best season in the last 30 years would start 03-wink

RE: Dri Archer goes to...........
The season we played Towson was West's Soph. year and actually the worst statistical season of his 3 year career. He ran for 1051 yds and 14 tds with a 5.4 per carry average. This past season he ran for a modest 2509 yards 41 tds and had a 6.1 yard per carry average and he was only a junior. So if I wasn't a Kent fan I'd probably favor West over Archer because he improved in his finally year rather than regressed. However, if Archer stays healthy and works hard, I think everyone who has watched him play knows just how exciting he could be. He's one of those rare players that can change a game in the blink of an eye.
