WOW! Dri speed kicked in! Great to see him on the field even thought in a black and gold uniform......and, I am a Giants fan so I am glad it's only a preseason game and they don't have to face him during the regular season. He just ran right through and by the linebackers.

RE: Dri Archer goes to...........
Dri had another catch tonight that went 40 yards and the guy who made the tackle grabbed his jersey and held on for dear life. It was a TD if he didn't corral him by his jersey.

That didn't take long. Hopefully it's not serious.

Meanwhile Terrence West looked beastly for the Browns in game one. Hope Dri bounces back strong, but if we could judge these two kids after one game looks like the Browns picked right by passing on him.

Different players, different systems and different roles so it's not fair to judge them, especially after one game for one and one game being inactive for the other.

Also totally different roles. The Steelers have one of the best RB in the AFC who will get a majority of their carries and the Browns have nobody to tote the ball so West will get a lot of carries. Dri will be used in certain packages and was never drafted to touch the ball 10-20x per game.

I believe the point is being missed here: Durability. It does not matter your role, your system, or your team mates. If you are injury-prone, you don't play.

But I also agree, let's not be quick to judge after only one game.

Meanwhile, old Antonio Gates has a pedestrian day for the Chargers. 96 yards and 3 TDs!

Does Gates make the Hall of Fame? Discuss.

100% yes. No discussion needed.

Tony Gonzalez retired as the best TE in NFL history with 111 TD's. Gates recorded #87-90 today. There isn't a man that's not named Tony Gonzalez that has more TD's as a TE in NFL history than Gates. He is probably the 4th best TE ever behind TG, Winslow, and Shannon Sharpe.

Likely yes (I put it at 67-33 in his favor), but I think it'll be 10 years after he retires.

Advantages: 8 Pro Bowls and 3 All-Pro 1st teams, lots of TDs, good reception and yard numbers. One team. Comparable stats with the last TE put in HOF (Shannon Sharpe)

Disadvantages: Not as good as Tony Gonzalez, so he'll be behind him. Similar career as contemporary Jason Witten. No big postseasons. Complaints that he wasn't that great of a blocker.

My guess is Gonzalez goes in fast and Witten and Gates have to wait for a while but both get in eventually. What's funny is that if you go to the 2003 draft (the one that Gates didn't get drafted in) and only Witten and Troy Polamalu have as many pro bowl appearances as Gates.

RE: Dri Archer goes to...........
I'll agree that Witten and Gates are statistically similar in most areas accept TDs. Gates has 38 more TDs than Witten despite playing 12 fewer games and having 190 fewer targets. I'd say that puts Gates on another level and that Witten.

He's probably not a first ballot HOF but I'd say 100% he gets in. Don't forget the fact that he was the first to make the Basketball to Football transition without college football experience so in some ways he was a trend setter that changed the NFL. He helped open doors to guys like Julius Thomas and Jimmy Graham. I think that will be something voters remember.

With Brown and Bell preoccupying defenses, Archer should have the opportunity to make some big plays.

RE: Dri Archer goes to...........
Dri is in trouble. If he isn't making an impact on special teams he is VERY vulnerable to be cut.
