I think the Cornell invite would be for just 3 sports--none of them major sports. After the Rutgers/Maryland adds, I come to the conclusion that you just never know. I would have never predicted those moves---so UConn sounds just as plausible if not more so.

Should you be baiting UConn fans like this, especially as a moderator? Just saying...
It was simply intended for a bit of levity and it was one of his ridiculous tweets. I don't think I've ever been guilty of baiting anyone around here. But I will say it would be nice if everyone didn't have to tippy toe around the cumulative angst on this board. It is a chat board and not everyone is going to agree, but if humor, especially lighthearted humor, has to go out the door then I think that says something about the skin being too thin for meaningful conversation to occur and the UConn folks are certainly not the only ones suffering from that malady.
In the last few weeks we have had way too many threads devolve into UConn/BC spew and aside from that the prevailing mood often seems to be anti P5 even though many of the P5 posters aren't being antagonistic. But I am glad for your question because I think it's about time to say that folks need to remember that we talk about what happens, we don't make it happen. So keep that in mind before you vent on a stranger about something they can't control. I think it's time to clean up the acrimony and while I've tried to let folks have their say, it may be time to take a tougher stance on the worst of it.

Cornell? I heard the University of Pennsylvania, they're the public IVY after all. I heard the the governor of PA was going to use his influence on the PSU BoD to force them to back Penn.

If you give him any credence, he said two teams would be added and one would be UConn and the other one would be a school in a top 20 DMA in a state with a population over 4 million.

Well any clarity to a totally unsubstantiated rumor is always welcomed as it only muddies the matter more increasing the wild speculation that ensues.

God I hope the B1G takes UConn. It's a win-win for the ACC. The competition majorly weakens their already weak football and it takes UConn off the table for ACC expansion forever.

Those criteria would eliminate half the P5.

I actually heard a rumor that the Big 10 was taking Uconn for bball only. I can't imagine the AAC letting them stick around for football if they did that.

I really did read that somewhere semi credible but I can't possibly see that happening.

I've seen a Big Ten poster from Minnesota claiming he has inside info that Cornell and the Big Ten are talking for things like hockey and lacrosse. Full membership though is highly doubtful.

Lurker Above has talked about that on this board. I could see that. But this I put up just for comic relief.

In all seriousness (I know you're joking about Penn), but Cornell sort of is a public Ivy. They're actually New York's Land Grant school.
Their setup is odd and I don't know much about it; for example, I've been told that they actually have two business schools - one supported by the land grant and one that is private.

Might not be a bad idea of the big 10 to just invite all 6 IVY league hockey school's if they want TV content. Thus, you would have 6 big 10 and 6 ivy league school's under a 12 team banner.
