Especially for a school like Cornell which benefits from the Ivy League label a lot more than HYP.
No one is talking about Cornell leaving the Ivy League, just one or two sports the IL does not sponsor.

It would still muddy the brand to have some of your school's most widely televised games under a big brand name conference other than the Ivy League.

P5 realignment, except for the occasional affiliate move ...
... but I don't think that the point of Big Ten ice hockey is not to pay out $1m BTN money to non-Big Ten members, so I don't expect Big Ten Hockey to be part of any of those moves.

they dont need another member in hockey or lax
If your the B1G, why would you not want a monopoly of the best college hockey in the country? Why would you not want to be in Boston and NYC with rabid hockey fan bases that could easily be increased? Why would you not want North Dakota and Denver hockey? Does anyone really believe AAU membership is really required for a hockey affiliate membership to the B1G? Has this board really considered how profitable such a hockey LEAGUE could be with the BTN?
If I were the B1G id want to keep the money and fame in conference. Why throw north dakota or denver a bone? Id build the existing B1G programs and do all that I could to make North Dakota and others also rans. Id also encourage existing B1G schools to support programs. Easier said than done I know.Rutgers is more likley to bring some eyeballs in NYC than Cornell

What this guy said.
Most folks are missing the big picture and keep chasing the rabbit. If you are following the rumors about small time stuff right now, you aren't seeing it.

I think the Cornell invite would be for just 3 sports--none of them major sports. After the Rutgers/Maryland adds, I come to the conclusion that you just never know. I would have never predicted those moves---so UConn sounds just as plausible if not more so.
Cornell? I heard the University of Pennsylvania, they're the public IVY after all. I heard the the governor of PA was going to use his influence on the PDU BoD to force them to back Penn.
(Before 16,000 posters jump on me, I know)
UConn and Temple. A big win win for the ACC. For the reasons Kaplony mentioned.

NOBODY wants UConn in the B1G more than me. H*ck, after getting jerked around by the Big East, Temple deserves it, too.

I think the ACC should bring in uconn, not sure about the big 10. I suspect if the football rule change happens, uconn probably gets an offer.
A: bc, uconn, cuse, pitt, Lville
B: uva, vtech, unc, duke, nc state
C: wake, clem, gtech, fsu, miami
format 4-2-2 with the 2 highest rated teams in the champ game.

Cincinnati has a better ACC chance than UCONN.
