Guess the Washington Generals don't field a tennis team since they sent both the men's and women's teams from A&M CC to face Baylor. Seems pretty strange that both first rounds would be the same matchup for men's and women's and in the same place.

Baylor gets 6-0 first-set wins at #1, #2, #3, #4 & #6.

Baylor wins, 4-0 ... with second set wins of 6-1 (#6), 6-0 (#1) and 6-0 (#2).

Only the #5 game was competitive ... but they didn't even finish the first set before the match was clinched. Baylor was winning #5, 5-4.

Today's Rice @Baylor regional final will start late ... no earlier than 5:30 p.m. (Central time).

FWIW: The Tulsa men beat Stanford, 4-2. The Cardinal won the doubles point and the first singles match, but Tulsa then won four straight singles contests ... three in three sets, one with two tiebreakers 7-6, 7-6.

The length of this match has pushed back the starts of the Baylor/A&M-CC men's and the Rice/Baylor women's contests.

At the 5:30 earliest start time for the women's regional final at Baylor, the men's match (A&M-CC @Baylor) is still going on.

The Baylor men lead 2-0, winning the doubles point and the #3 singles (6-4, 6-1). The Bears also won four other first sets in singles (#2 #4, #5 & #6.).

Baylor men now up 3-0 after #2 singles wins, 6-2, 6-2.

A&M-CC #5 took the second set, to move that match to a third.

But Baylor's #4 is up 5-1 and serving for the match; #1 is up 4-0; #6 is up 4-3. (All second-set scores after first-set wins.)

FYI, looking at the announced singles lineup, only Ip and Zimmermann are playing against opponents they saw during the regular season. That will be interesting.

In early doubles action, Rice #1 (Beazant/Zimmerman) are up a break, 4-3. But #2 & #3 (Ho/Harmath & Zinko/Ip, respectively) are down a break by 4-2 scores.
