WE ALL SHOULD BE OPPOSED!!!!!!!!!

That's the point. You can spend all the money you want just let us know where it's coming from so we all can make informed decisions. Citizens United was a horrible horrible horrible precedent for our country.

All Citizens United did was to say if some can do it, all can do it.

My approach would be to get rid of some can do it. Only individuals can contribute--no PACs, no 501© whatevers, no unions, no corporations. But you can't let some of those contribute and not let others without tilting the playing field.

That's why the left hats Citizens United. They had the playing field tilted in their direction, and now not so much so. And they don't like a level playing field.

At least based on the information provided in the article, I think Steyer's actions in this case are legitimate and ethical.

We need a Donald Sterling tape to come out for some of these Supreme Court justices. Scalia especially.

Well, given Roberts tanking the ACA, one wonders what compromising info someone has on him.

Instead of a Supreme Court justice, would you settle for a president?

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

I've heard there is one of Ginsburg in chambers saying:

"Can someone tell me where I am?"

I would be fascinated to somehow be privy to the conversations that Thurgood Marshall had with his clerks and the other justices for the last 5 or 6 years that he was on the Supreme Court. He was virtually comatose for much of that time, but refused to resign since there were Republican presidents in those days. Finally, in June 1991, he threw in the towel, no doubt in the belief (widely shared at the time) that Bush/41 would be re-elected and that a Democrat wouldn't become president until he (Marshall) was 88. Knowing that he probably wouldn't make it that long (and indeed, he did not) he relented and Bush appointed Clarence Thomas to replace him.

Yet history is full of surprises, and in the following 12 months, Bush's political standing crumbled to dust. Clinton was elected, then inaugurated in January 1993 -- precisely four days prior to Marshall's death. If only Marshall's clerks could have foretold that sequence of events, Clinton would have had a Supreme Court nomination to make, in his very first week in office.
