Bearcats in the draft?
I haven't paid any attention this year to NFL draft projections or anything this year. So are any Bearcats projected to go in the draft and what round?

RE: Bearcats in the draft?
If you were putting money down on a player to be drafted the safest bets would be Blake Annen and Sam Longo. They are projected anywhere between the 5th-7th rounds.

Brendan Kay, Austin Bujnoch and Greg Blair will likely be undrafted free agents.

RE: Bearcats in the draft?
My guess is that no Bearcats get drafted but plenty will be in camps.

I think someone jumps on Annen's freakish pro day numbers and he gets picked up in one of the late rounds.

All that talent and still couldn't win the conference.

But the coach got a big time job and a huge raise.

What am I missing?

Nothing. Even with the heriocs of Brian Kelly's BE champioship teams at UC, there was not a first-rounder on any of them. There were very few second rounders I can think of, and those came well after the 2009 season (Wolfe, Pead, etc.).

Yep, there were only three Bearcats drafted that year:

Mardy Gilyard was picked in the 4th round by the Rams
Tony Pike was a 6th round pick by the Panthers
Ricardo Matthews was a 7th round pick by the Colts

Our 2008 team actually had the most Bearcats ever drafted (6). The 1998 squad had 5 guys taken in the draft. The 2011 team had 4.

In fairness, UL was a darn good team last year. Only loss to UCF which was also a damn good team as witnessed by their hammering of a good Baylor team in the Fiesta. UL absolutely humiliated Miami in the bowl game.

Have to agree. No love for Louisville from me but they had a great season and Bridgewater's performance at Nippert far exceeded my expectations of what he could do against a very good UC defense.

RE: Bearcats in the draft?
^^ The crazy thing is you take away that 50 yard bomb he threw as he was stumbling to the ground and that 10 yard run he had while carrying Nick Temple on his arm then UC wins that game by a couple scores. You have to give Bridgewater credit for making the plays, but it does make you scratch your head about their overall talent and ours as well.

And if you take away the two best plays UC made all game, where would we have been?

Aside from one score, UC's drives were long and sustained. I can only remember one big play in that game and that was a pass to McKay where he broke off for a 50 yard run after the catch (UC later scored with Abernathy running in into the endzone).

RE: Bearcats in the draft?
Kay could do very well in Pittsburgh's system. He will have to beat out Bruce Gradkowski and Landry Jones for the backup spot. Big Ben is in his early 30s and is injury prone. Could get a lot of playing time if he makes it.
