Quote:Former UC OLs Bujnoch, Longo land NFL tryouts

Former University of Cincinnati offensive linemen Austen Bujnoch (New York Jets) and Sam Longo (Cleveland Browns) have landed NFL tryouts, they told The Enquirer via text Tuesday.
Bujnoch (Elder High School) and Longo (Bellbrook HS, Ohio) are among several former Bearcats who will try to make the NFL as undrafted free agents, along with QB Brendon Kay (Pittsburgh Steelers), LB Greg Blair (Cleveland Browns), OL Andre Cureton (Dallas Cowboys), TE Blake Annen (Philadelphia Eagles) and WR Anthony McClung (Houston Texans).
As the NBA draft draws near I figured I'd post some BBall news.

Quote:Top prospects like Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid have received the lion's share of attention heading into Thursday's NBA draft in Brooklyn, but one veteran scout believes Xavier's Semaj Christon and Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick may hear their names called, too.
The scout, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said both players could figure into the ESPN-televised draft. NBA teams will select 60 men's basketball players total in the two-round format.
NBA mock draft: Wiggins goes No. 1 to Cavs

Christon announced in late March that he was leaving Xavier after two seasons to pursue his professional aspirations. The 6-foot-3 guard carved a niche in Musketeers' record books as the second player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone as a sophomore. He left XU with 1,034 points, 281 assists and 90 steals in 64 games.
Christon's projected draft status varies on mock boards, from the second round (nbadraft.net) to missing the draft entirely (draftexpress.com). The scout thinks Christon probably will be selected between No. 26 and 40, or from the late first round to the early second round.
"I think he's an NBA athlete. He's a two-way player, can play both ends of the floor. That's really going to help him. He's going to have to improve his perimeter shooting and be a knockdown shooter. But he competes," the scout said.
"His demeanor during the game – he always has a poker face. He just plays. He has been well-coached at Xavier. I think the arrow's definitely pointing up on him. I think he's a very good prospect."
Christon has documented on Twitter several NBA teams he has worked out for, including the Toronto Raptors, LA Clippers, San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards.
The Cincinnati native scored well in the "On the Move Shooting" category at the Draft Combine in Chicago in May. The test required players to attempt uncontested jump shots from 15 to 18 feet while on the move, and Christon made 27 of his 39 attempts.
The scout believes 6-4 guard Kilpatrick could be a late second-round candidate. He likes how well the Cincinnati standout has been coached and the way he has improved throughout his tenure as a Bearcat.
Kilpatrick finished his decorated UC career with 2,145 career points, ranking second in program history to the legendary Oscar Robertson. A first team All American, Kilpatrick tied UC's record for career made 3-pointers (313) and set new standards in career games played (140), consecutive games played (140) and career minutes played (4,315).
"He's a tough kid, a conscientious kid. He comes early and stays late. He has improved his shooting and can handle the ball at the end of the game," the scout said.
"No matter where he'll land, he'll improve. Whether he's drafted or undrafted, he's going to fight the good fight. I would never count him out."
Kilpatrick's age – 24 – has been noted in some pre-draft fodder, including David Aldridge's breakdown of shooting guards on NBA.com. Aldridge said Kilpatrick was among those with sleeper potential, a role that Kilpatrick himself seems to relish.
Kilpatrick took to Twitter earlier this week to say "I love being the 'Sleeper' of the draft!"
Last season Kilpatrick and Christon were unanimous all-league first-team selections – the American Athletic Conference for Kilpatrick and the Big East for Christon.
They won't be the only ones sweating out the selections Thursday night. But that, the scout said, is just the nature of the process.
"Believe me, there are 300 young men out there that think they're going to be in the top 60 Thursday night," the scout said. "There are going to be a lot of broken hearts."
Apparently both Kilpatrick and Jackson have had a bunch of workouts. I found one of JJ with the hornets http://www.nba.com/hornets/draft-workout...on-6/14/14
check out his outside shot around the 20 second mark btw... A bitter yet happy feeling. Would have been nice if he had developed faster or been utilized as a post player to start with. Still, it's amazing how far he's come.
Only two more days.

Yesterday, they had him as 57 going to the Pacers.
I think someone takes a chance on him tomorrow.
Andy Katz @ESPNAndyKatz: Senior who hasn't gone yet that I don't understand: Sean Kilpatrick of Cincinnati.
Andy Katz @ESPNAndyKatz: Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick becomes second first-team AP all-American not to be drafted. Nova's Scottie Reynolds was the first in 2010.
Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello: My "best availables" after the draft: Jabari Brown, Jahii Carson, Pat Young, Sean Kilpatrick, DeAndre Kane.
Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello: By the way, how far does a starting five of Jahii Carson, DeAndre Kane, Sean Kilpatrick, Ejim/Fair, and Pat Young take you last season?
Andy Glockner @AndyGlockner: No kidding. YES PLS RT @SJonesy31: @AndyGlockner Take Kilpatrick!
Andy Glockner @AndyGlockner: That's not Sean Kilpatrick. RT @WojYahooNBA: The Knicks will select Louis Laberiye with the 57 pick
Andy Glockner @AndyGlockner: Kilpatrick as an UDFA is nuts
Andy Glockner @AndyGlockner: You could argue a couple other guys, but for my money, Kilpatrick was the best player in the AAC this season. Flat carried Cincy.
Jay Bilas @JayBilas: @Dream_Chaser859 Terrific player. Tough kid, good shooter. But, I ranked him just outside of the Second Round. Better to make a team as UFA.
Sean Kilpatrick @SeanKilpatrick_: TRUST ME.... Everyone and I mean EVERYONE will pay for this!
Jay Bilas @JayBilas: @Dream_Chaser859 Terrific player. Tough kid, good shooter. But, I ranked him just outside of the Second Round. Better to make a team as UFA.
I agree with Bilas. Statistically speaking UFA's favor better than guys picked 57th in the draft or what have you. Moreover, it will give SK some flexibility to pick the best situation for him. It is equivalent to being a 7th round draft pick in football. Those guys are usually the first to go when cut time comes.
His age made him all but undraftable. No way would a team who can take an 18-year old from Europe and stash his rights for a few years to see if he develops waste that opportunity on a 24 year old who has played the same amount of minutes in the NBA.
Let's be realistic if he doesn't make it he can play in Europe, etc. and make good money. Save most of it, invest it and enhance his life. Not the NBA, but not McDonalds money. I wish him well.
