OT: More Alabama-football related arrests
http://bamahammer.com/2014/05/07/former-...d-alabama/

Former Alabama star and current Pro Bowl defensive lineman with the Buffalo Bills Marcell Dareus was arrested in Heflin, Ala Tuesday night, according to the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Joe Jacks confirmed to WVUA-TV in Tuscaloosa that Dareus was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dareus was originally stopped for speeding. In Alabama, possession of a controlled substance is a felony charge. A court date has not yet been set.

Bills senior vice president of communications Scott Berchtold released a statement addressing the situation to the Tuscaloosa News:

“All we know right now is what we have seen in media reports and we will continue to look into this.”

Dareus appeared in his first Pro Bowl last season after totaling 71 tackles and 7.5 sacks in his third season with the Bills.

Dareus was the Defensive MVP of the 2010 BCS National Championship game for the Crimson Tide after scoring 28-yard touchdown on an interception return in the second quarter.

Because it was a felony arrest, it had to be crack and a crack pipe, am I right?

No it wouldn't have to be crack..that's not the only determinant of a felony. I highly doubt a 330+ pro bowl defensive tackle is on crack anyway

Actually, word is, it was "spice" aka synthetic marijuana. The possession of which is a felony in Alabama.

Note: Heflin, where he was arrested, is a ****** place to be, even if you aren't being taken in on felony charges

One would have to assume he was smoking that because he faces regular drug tests, being employed in the NFL and all. And yeah spice is a felony, states like Alabama are pretty aggressive about these kinds of things, ya know?

I'm happy they made it a felony. The fake marijuana actually kills people occasionally.

RE: OT: More Alabama-football related arrests
All of this reminds me of the history of the Prohibition period when the gov't blew up stills, chased "bootleggers" (until they formed NASCAR) and other interdiction efforts. Nothing was done then nor is being done now to diminish DEMAND for "recreational drugs" of all types. As long as demand exists, the supply will chase it to the inevitable profits to be accrued from it. It is a folly to believe any gov't effort can choke off supply when demand stays constant. The price just gets higher and higher so more get drawn into the trade, especially in an era of high unemployment.

It's a solid way for public school teachers to make a little extra money over the summer.
