But a lot more travel ... western hockey schools don't get always get precisely two games per trip over the course of a season,, but pretty close. And, eg, with the Buckeyes playing the Redhawks a single game home and away series, Columbus and Oxford are a pretty short bus ride as these things go. You'd not want to do that Minnesota to Penn State.

Looking at Cornell's schedule, I see Eastern hockey doesn't have the heavy reliance on two game weekend stands, but then the travel distances tend to be much shorter ... the East coast leagues seem to basically be bus leagues.

Its all only hypothetical, of course, since there's no way an Ivy League school joins a Big Ten conference.

OK, it was just an idea, but remember my OP only had Cornell joining for hockey and wrestling, and not leaving the Ivy League.

If you know anything about the history of the IVY League, it's pretty much the same thing.

It might be different if it was a different conference. But an Ivy League school putting affiliate sports in the Big Ten isn't going to happen. They'd get too much flack from the other Ivy League schools from associating with those Big Ten upstarts, many of whom did not become major research institutions until the post-WWII boom. I mean, less than three quarters of a century! How Noveau-Riche!
