Based on Bakers several newsletters that NIU is desperate for increased enrollment for survival, I don't think we can be picky if they qualify academically and stay qualified.

Reporting out of Chicago that only talks about the bad stuff doesn't help. I think part of the reason we get more good recruits out of the south is that those recruits aren't listening to the biased Chicago reporting about NIU being a den of iniquity.

A lot of kids that are attracted to party schools don't make it that long. It won't really help long term and will only add to the problems NIU faces already. I think the Communiversity planning can help, but NIU needs to become more well known for it's academics. They already attract a lot of kids for their business program, maybe if they were to choose another program to boost and become "known" for, it could help enrollment.
