Has anyone seen the movie, "God is not dead"?
My wife and I went this Sunday and I liked it. It was a very well made movie. When I was in the theatre I was wondering how many weren't Christian and only went to pick it apart? Only one person left but it was almost at the end so I guess he really had to go pee. It's weird watching a movie and there's no nudity or cussing.

I shouldn't have posted the last sentence now there's some that won't want to watch it because it doesn't contain scum. LOL

Why would I waste two hours of my life watching some poorly made, self-righteous, ham-fisted attempt to defend a religion that doesn't need defending?

I know two college-age Christians who saw it and were not impressed: they didn't think it was terrible but nothing profound or significant either.

The secular media has given this some of the most scathing/brutal reviews on record.

I'm truly terrified of being bored to death or overacted to death.

Legitimate concerns, seeing the reviews and plot of this "film".

Rotten Tomatoes is the _last_ Place I go to see what average people think of a film.

Quote:Much like this pitiful film at the box office.

You think it bombed? It's still #9 on the Box office charts (Spent 3 weeks in the top 5)

Total Gross (all Domestic): $55,561,308 (1860 screens)
Heaven is real: Total Gross: $66,619,422 (2930 screens)
Son of God: total Gross; 59,631,575 (3271 screens)

I'd say those aren't "bombs" (considering expenditures on God's Not Dead was only about 2M.)

I cringed the second I started reading the synopsis. The plot is ludicrous. It makes me think of those stupid chain emails people send about atheist professors.

It was a great movie. The theater was packed when I saw it.

Any movie that is G rated and has a uplifting story is an improvement upon the filth that comes out of Hollywood. Is is necessary to drop F bombs in every sentence or show in graphic detail sex or murder constantly to get ratings? If so? It is a commentary on where we are as people.

My Pastor and his wife(also a Minister) saw it. Both said they enjoyed it..but..were not blown away by it.

sorry dude but it's a bomb.

Based on what? They expanded the screens originally from 700 to 1860... How is that a bomb? Is it Star Wars/Captain America/etc. Numbers?

Nope.. but there's no way I put those numbers in the "bomb" category. If they spent 30 or 40 million to make those movies, I'd say .. okay, it qualifies in "bomb" category. But none of the three spent more than $12Million... (GiD = 2 M, HiR = 12M, SoG = Supposedly in the 12M range... (But boxofficemojo didn't have that number available for SoG).

I'd say that from the box office receipts listed in this thread, there are plenty of people that don't have to see the sex/violence in a movie.

It's interesting how all of a sudden Hollywood has started making Bible related movies. I guess they finally figured out folks will pay good money to see those types of movies, often more than one time.
