Ga Tech Spec Teams Coach
Georgia Tech special teams coordinator Dave Walkosky is no longer on the staff. No details given.
From AJC:
Senior associate athletic director Ryan Bamford confirmed that Walkosky was no longer part of the program and added “That’s probably about all I can tell you.”
It is clear this was not a performance-based dismissal. Walkosky received a one-year contract in April that was set to take effect in July with a slight raise to $183,950.
Anybody know what's going on?

RE: Ga Tech Spec Teams Coach
Walkosky was hired after PJ started feeling some heat. His special teams were AWFUL. He had always split up special teams coaching amongst all the other coaches. In 2010 or 2011 ... whichever year it was that GT went to the great lengths of safety'ing themselves on a kickoff to make sure their Miami losing streak stayed intact ... they lost 4 games on special teams meltdowns. After that Walkosky was brought on, and there was an across the board improvement in every special teams category. A proper kicker with range was recruited. A good returner was found and GT returned their first kickoff for a TD in nearly 15 years (the second longest drought in the NCAA at the time).
If I had to guess, the working relationship between Walkosky and PJ wasn't exactly rainbows and pixie dust, since Walkosky proved PJ was wrong in his approach to special teams.
That said, the former could have nothing to do with it ... he could have done something inappropriate (read: illegal or deeply unethical) for all I know.
Also ... Ty Griffin (QB #3 on the depth chart probably) is transferring.
I've said for some time this is PJ's make or break year. More of the same could get the axe this coming offseason. Add into the mix the weird Feldman CBS tweet and the players transferring and now this and you get the feeling the ship is listing heavily to port captain.

RE: Ga Tech Spec Teams Coach
FWIW, here's a sneak peak of my ACC predictions as they apply to Ga Tech:
Jackets finish 7-5 with losses to VT, UNC, Pitt, Clemson, and GA (by double-digits). I see GT beating a QB-less Miami team, and finishing tied for 2nd in the Coastal (Duke repeats, IMO, thanks to an easy schedule).
Q: Is that enough to warrant one more year for PJ?

If that season played out, I'd hope he'd be fired immediately after the UGA game. Whether he kept his job or not would come down to that game. Even then, if I were a GT fan, I'd want him gone.

He'd be fired within 72 hours of the conclusion of the UGAg game. The losses to Pitt and UNC would MORE than cancel out finally beating Miami.

I'd prefer he succeed ... as firing him wipes out the offense for a good 3 years minimum.
