In March, according to BLS, there were 91,630,000 Americans not in the labor force. In April, that increased by 964,000 people to an all-time record of 92,594,000. The previous record was 92,534,000, set in January of this year.

At the same time, according to BLS, the seasonally adjusted labor force participation rated drop from 63.2 percent in March to 62.8 percent in April, matching a 36-year low. Prior to October 2013, the labor force participation rate had not gone as low as 62.8 percent since March 1978. In the last seven months it has matched that low in three months–October 2013, December 2013 and April 2013.

This report comes after a 4 year Federal Government hiring frenzy. Kick that can around for a bit and ponder those implications.

What we see as a failure...Obama secretly sees as a success. The more people that can be made dependent on the government and receive redistributed wealth?..the better. This is his plan. Seems to be working to perfection.

So roughly 30% of Americans didn't work in April.... something about this stat seems misleading.........

Yah so this data includes people 16 and up... not every kid in high school or college works. Also includes retirees not yet in nursing homes.


Still... a lot of people without jobs and a serious issue. But let's not pretend 92,594,000 people are panicking.

Raising the minimum wage wouldn't have helped either.

isn't it about time for the administration to announce another "pivot back to the economy"? it happens every 6 or 8 months.
