Again its up to the fans to put up the money.

as i have in the past, where do you get at least $40 mill infusion into the athletic budget to put you in the lower have of ath budgets in the big12? Our budget woulf have to be in the range of 50-60 mill. ain't gonna happen.

Don't forget the cost of stadium renovation and expansion.

Agree. The fans need to show support the renovation of the West stands and a real skybox.

We all know the answer.

If a 11-1 Texas is left out of the 4 team playoff because they did not play in a conference championship game then yes.

Exactly, and then you look who fits in reasonably geographically (better so than some recent additions) and who has access to (access meaning location not necessarily currently supported by) a major market. Who fits in academically. While the Big XII is light years away from the MAC, it is also probably the weakest of the AQ conferences and may need to expand.

Well I will definitely take that!02-13-banana

Always remember that on Thanksgiving Day 2012 NIU needed about 20 ranked or nearly ranked teams to lose over the next 10 days to make it to a BCS game.

Don't ever let anyone fool you that we cant schedule aq teams because our stadium needs more seats..our bathrooms are too dirty...there are no good restaurants in dekalb...corn is not appealing to aqs. All excuses. Other programs including other mac schools have or are starting to take more aggressive stances here. If niu was a teenager...the past 10 years we have opted to go out on the weekends and not saved for the big car. Niu leadership has taken a short sighted approach and I think we are on the cusp of feeling that decade of incompetence. No way can conference upgrade talk be entertained with a 2000 person season ticket base. It will take getting a leader here that isn't afraid to pick up the phone and be relentless to get the job done. My fear though..is that it's too late

Welcome to college football.04-cheers

I've seen lots of suggestions for improvements to the football stadium listed here that are both short-term and long-term, but here is one that could be done by the Presbyterian game (wtf are we doing playing them?):

It's all about TV now........Switch the camera positioning in the stadium.

I'm sick of knowing that there are way more people in the stands on the west side for the entire game, yet all we see is the ugly, smaller, empty east side on TV. It makes absolutely no sense. Yeah, there would be some expense in building a TV booth and an elevator on the east side - but what is the current TV booth made out of on the west side - plywood?

The typical camera view from the west side is embarrassing and not representative of what the stadium experience actually is.

Because it's all about TV, you need the cameras on the west looking east so that the sun is setting behind the cameras. It's that simple.

The original TV booth built on our west side was made out of plywood, but that was an embarrassment, so it was rebuilt, insulated and actually has heat and air conditioning -- the later is something the main press box does not have. A quality press box and elevators would involve way more than "some expense."

At least some folks on here would disagree with you about showing the west side where everyone sits on their hands and don't get vocal (a viewpoint I don't agree with).

Th West side would show better IMO. Its a higher grand stand, and the concrete and chair back seating look more substantial than the expanses of sheet metal on the East.

I just always cringe when ESPN shows the east side, not just because everyone is gone at halftime from the east side, but because with the lenses they use it makes the stands look even smaller than they are. The press box drop back at least makes it look like somewhat of a substantial stadium. My favorite camera shots are at a higher camera angle from near the field looking up on the west side. It looks like a pretty darn good environment from that angle. They had a few shots from the Ball State game last year from that angle where everyone on the west side was standing up for a big play and it was impressive looking. The only time I like seeing the east side on camera is when it is just the bottom few rows in the background when showing the line of scrimmage before a play.

I don't think you can go right showing the stands at Huskie stadium. It's a very utilitarian place....not really pretty (and the pigdog ruins the Chessick center viewing a bit).

I cringe more when they have the camera in te North endzone pointed South rather than the other way around.

And I doubt the home opener will be on real TV at all.
