RE: Penn State Coaching Staff to Co-Host Football Camp with GSU Staff
As a coach I would say this is a brilliant idea actually. Georgia St is looking for numbers if you can get 350 kids instead 150 to show its well worth it. They'll find morethan a few diamonds in the rough. And in Georgia if you can get that many kids to show trust they'll be some players.

Likely no...

Miles and Franklin go way back and its a quid pro quo. It will get players on campus who normally wouldnt come to camp at a G5 school and it gets Penn State a look in GA.

You will be directly competing for them as soon as the Penn State staff sets foot in Georgia. If your coach does not think he is competing with P5 schools for recruits, then he will never be a successful G5 coach.

So you really think you're competing against LSU for a 4 star or even a 3 star? That should be an interesting stat.

Percentage of 4 stars that signed with a G-5 program.

We get kids that the Penn States overlook who should have been 4-stars.

But feel free to have Penn State come by and have a closer look at yours, lol.
Did you somehow think that if Franklin didn't come to Georgia State he wasn't coming to Georgia at all? Georgia is the #4 recruiting ground in the United States. Number 4! This is a silly conversation as if Penn State needs a visa to enter Georgia. He and every other P-5 staff east of the Mississippi is already here. If Penn State wants a guy they are going to get them.

This is a brilliant move and I expect any G5 team located in a good recruiting area to follow suit.
You'll have local kids begging to come to your camp and have a chance to impress some that may have said "no thanks" to an invitation before.

But, you won't find other programs welcoming a friend into their homes and opening the door to the bedroom and saying, "the wife's in bed...have at it..." This is not a good deal for the home team...but it's a good way for fighting sanduskis to establish relationships that will bear fruit in the very near future.

LOL at those not saying matching GSU and Penn State isn't a good idea for a camp. Let's be real, no one in the Sunbelt is recruiting the same players as Penn State.

We'll get way more talented kids coming to the camp and we'll give be able to evaluate more kids. Penn State will be able to evaluate kids as well. GSU will be able to show kids the football facilities, introduce them to the coaches, jerseys, etc.

Smart move by the coaches. We won't be bottom-feeders for too long.

To Hammer's point, the kid mentioned in the article from the Lovett School was a high 3 star (graded out to 88 on 247). Look at the other offers on his list.
http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Grant-H...tInterests

Of their 12 commits for 2015, only one has a 247 grade of less than 88. They have more commits than the entire SBC and there is no SBC commit who is an 88 or above.

We will worry about that when 4 stars start thinking of coming to Georgia State over SEC, ACC and B1G schools.

Meanwhile, the coaches at UL, stAte and others will be signing the same caliber kids you are giftwrapping for PSU.

The idea of inviting Ohio State down to evaluate recruits with us is bizarre.

We evaluate recruits and try to find those guys that the big boys have overlooked or have under-rated. That's how you survive at this level. Asking them to come in and evaluate your guys is asking for them to come recognize your Ty Hilton for what they really are.

I am not talking about 4 star guys. See the last post by Ark30inf. He is spot on about the kids you will be sending to PSU.

And see my post where PSU has 11 of 12 commits graded higher than 88. If they find anyone in a Georgia it's someone with a UGA, Clemson or Auburn offer.

In most SBC States, the number of talented players is limited, meaning we are recruiting against Out of State P5's, and we sure as better beat those schools out for instate players if we want to be successful.

If Georgia State thinks there are enough recruits in Georgia to overcome giving Penn State free access...good for them, but this is not a relationship any other SBC School would attempt to have.

And for the record, a large part of the rosters at ASU and ULL had offers from P5 teams...and teams like South, Texas State, and troy are picking up more of those by the day.

There's not a school in the Sunbelt that would turn down Nick Saban if he wanted to do a joint camp. And his team is in the South. Trent Miles and Franklin has had a previous relationship in the past as assistants. Thus, the idea to connect.

The highest rated SBC recruit in the 2014 class was an 86 grade. And Georgia isn't Arkansas. 200 FBS signees a year. Four FBS schools. More than enough kids to go around here. By the way the 86 grade was hit by 4 different SBC signees. Two were Georgia Southern signees. Like a said, this state is rife with talent. And if we are in fact fighting Penn State or Georgia for an 88 or 89 grade kid I welcome that day.

Is your coach really that stupid? He is going to give access to his recruits to a P5 program that has a long and good tradition and is trying to rebuild?

Why would you do this?

This doesn't seem to be a smart move by Ga State, unless, its part of a deal for Penn State to play a home and home with Georgia State. Any news about the P5 getting rid of the transfer wait period and increasing the scholarship limit?

If USA did the same deal with Saban or Malzahn, I'd not be happy.
