This made me chuckle.

Tony doesn't recommend HGH injections or Russian Deer Antler.... does he?

JUCO kids come into my store wanting energy stuff and even HGH, They say 'people' offer to sell it to them.

We won't even give them legal supplements that are advertised to boost testosterone levels. Hormonal supplementation is tricky business especially in kids who have high levels. 07-coffee3 Everybody knows this, but DHEA and other hormones in the chain are over the counter.

Give em DHEA coupled w/ Yohimbe, Terestris and Niacin. Does the trick.

maybe for turning purposes...but I won't even put the supplement freebies out that the companies send for trial purposes. Some of 'em all ready have trouble sleeping.

And Niacin would scare the **** out of some of those younguns. That's one thing that really strikes home when you talk to teenagers....they are so freakin young and some of them are trying so hard to get to the next level that it would be easy to take advantage of them if you were a strength coach or an *******.

Do you work for GNC? I worked there 3 years during college in the hood. Niacin was big business for the drug tests. I spent most of my time educating the teenagers on proper nutrition and diet and turning them away from supplements.

Does Niacin help pass drug tests??

It increases your odds. Niacin is a staple ingredient in most "detox" or "quick cleanse" products. Usually combined with a variety of herbal diuretics like dandelion root, as well as creatine (I guess to draw water into the muscle cells from the skin?)
I had many customers swear by it. But those that were serious always bought the $40 emergency drinks. I had numerous repeat customers swear by those that they passed just fine without any traces of being tainted even having smoked as soon as 1-2 days before the test. Of course some didn't, as its all related to a variety of individual factors, but I'd say about 80% swore by it. The drug-testing technology may have caught up by now. Snowtiger's probably up to speed on it.

Drinks like these that are designed to give a 2-3 window of opportunity:

http://www.detoxforless.com/detox-drinks.aspx

Yogi's brand Detox Tea will quickly detox. If you go into store like Kroger's and find the row of that detox tea gone then most likely than not its a run to get clean.

Yeah, usually they come in a panic their parole officer or employer gave them a notice beforehand, which I never understood. I once had a lady call me and ask if we had anything to clean crack cocaine out of her system and if we accepted food stamp cards. 03-phew

well, do you???

One of my 'jobs' includes owning a very small natural food store on the West Coast-- for 20+ years...We sell a bit of everything-- bulk grains beans pastas nuts, grocery products, wine/beer, chill, frozen, bulk herbs, body care and supplements. EBT cards can't be used for the purchase of wine/beer, body care, supplements, cleaning products, or detox tea formulas that specifically say they are for detoxing.

What I have seen through the years could fill many books. One time, a little 'white' skinned kid with his sister (both under 10 years of age) came in asking for a drug detox formula. It really got to me. I still can't imagine a situation that would warrant that.

We quit selling the specific detox formulas awhile back...mostly to avoid the types of people that come into the store. Plus, it's kind of hypocritical to tell the JUCO kids not to use drugs, if you're selling the stuff that helps them cheat. But most of the formulas have creatine, blood cleansing formulas, diuretics, Niacin and B Vits.

Would I tell one of the JUCO kids I know how to detox....Answer yes...but not without some kind of backhanded slap he might not even recognize. Don't tell the NCAA, lol, but we do give them a lot of food and multi vits.

Sweet! Sounds like a holistic 'Whole Foods Market' type place. You probably have a much more balanced, driven health conscious, and self-educated customer base. I don't know about about sub-10 years old, but teenage white, black, brown, kids of all kinds asking for detox products was fairly daily routine for me, or their parents asking for it for them in my neighborhood (sad).

GNC caters to the "just give me a pill to solve all my problems" market. As the only bodybuilder-employee in my Friday-like demographics I built a reputation with the customers for my brutal honesty, much to the detriment of my employer's short-sighted vision. But they came back repeatedlty to listen, always. I just stopped them from purchasing the crap they saw in magazine advertisements and remind them the human body's nutritional requirements didn't change, but the latest magazine advertisement did.

As far as self-educated goes, that's a 'no'. We get people who want you to tell them what they've already insisted on buying will work for them; and we also get a lot of folks who are taking prescription meds, as many as 5....6...10 etc.

Many chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists and strength coaches, along with your average Tom, Dick and Harriette are pushing vitamins/supplements--just to scrounge out a living. Some of them are the overpriced multi-level products, and some have strong performance enhancing additives that really do affect a person's hormonal levels--especially a young person's.

Hormones are some interesting juices. Changing the balance with legal substances may take a few months, but once you do, it takes a 'long time' to re-calibrate. I have seen many types of addicts in the supplement business--testosterone addicts are some of the most difficult. They crave that feeling of fullness. Without it they think they're weak.

What people identify as a health problem, often times isn't...lol. Many times it's a financial issue or a relationship problem that is causing the real pain---triggering physical symptoms. People might be surprised how many physical symptoms can disappear once a relationship issue is resolved. 03-banghead

After many years in this 'health' business, this is what I've found to be an accurate statement. Most physical ailments have non physical origins.

Never mind, though. This is store talk and I am reminded to 'suit up' for today's store adventure. It seems like internet relationships with 'Go Tigers' as the basis are more important that I thought they would be when I first started posting here...lol.

Go Tigers. Go UofM. Go Memphis.

That stinks. They don't sound any different. Yeah, I always got funny looks when I would tell them a product was a worthless waste of money. Fat burners were the worst. After they banned ephedrine I couldn't convince them the ephedrine free stuff was worthless. They always returned them though.

And yeah, there are many types of addicts in the supplement business. You are getting addicted to posting and 'Go Tigers' internet relationships. 04-cheers

04-cheers Go Tigers.

Tony Sarwar, Austin Nichols' former (maybe still current) personal trainer, is on coaching bench for LeMoyne. An assistant with them now.
