I'm surprised none of you folk posted this! Looks like your 6'11" man is off to play his final year of eligibility at Lipscum as a graduate student. I wonder if this might be the second time in six years that Alexander got to recruit the same player . . .

Let's see, Alexander went to Lipscum, hired Drayben, and got Lang to transfer. All that blue & red turning purple & gold must really suck! I imagine it's akin to when UTC or Appy State snag an ETSU person . . . really hate to see it.

Actually, this came as a surprise. I never saw it. And, as much as I like Chad as a person, the move may be the best for him and for Belmont.

Chad's playing time at Belmont would have been very little. Next year we will have a 6-8 sophomore who has some skills and can run the floor much better than Chad. We also have a 6-10 freshman coming off of a redshirt year that seems to have some leaping ability. In addition, we've signed two 3-star players, 6-9 Mack Mercer who is on the Indiana high school all-star team and 6-7 Amanze Egekeze who was named player of the year from 2 different Chicago area newspapers.

With that kind of talent, I just don't think Chad would have much playing time. He does have a chance of some time with Lipscum who doesn't have a lot of depth inside. For Belmont, it opens up another scholarship for a player that can help us more in the long run.

RE: Chad Lang
I hadn't seen it either, but agree with Bruin2002. It may be the best thing for Chad (and with Casey being the coach at Lipscomb, it just doesn't bother me like it would have with previous coaches :) ) - and really, that's what's most important.

On a similar note for the women's team, but with the reverse outcome, while Jordyn Luffman graduated and was leaving to play her final year elsewhere, at the NIT game, some of the women told me she had worked out her graduate studies so that she could stay/play at Belmont next year (I do not have official confirmation of this).

O.K., this took all of three minutes of research: Looks like you guys just upped your interest level to "medium" (verbal commits) for 6'4" JUCO PG Chris Jones back on 4/26. Rivals has him at 3 stars, ESPN has him at 1 . . . you all are welcome, glad I could help. Go Bucs!

Poking around Rivals, I see where you guys made an offer to Chris Jones.
