I hope it happens for two reasons:

1. Calipari should not be coaching collegiate basketball. Bobby Knight agrees with me.

2. The meltdown on Catspew will be monumental and enough entertainment to last all off-season.

I believe if Cal was everything he is today, yet the same age he was when he took over the Memphis program, he would probably jump at coaching the Lakers. However, Im not sure he has the energy for that especially if he flops like he did with the Nets. Im not even sure why they are considering him. He has everything he could ever want on a college level.

Calipari to THE LAKERS ??
He ain't going nowhere!! Heck he has pretty much talked the Harrison twins into staying another year and he is having hip replacement surgery today and will be laid up for a while.. I think he will be at Kensucky for at least 10 to 15 yrs unless he gets caught with his shenanigans or just retires..

Didn't he have this done several years ago?

Didn't he have this done several years ago?

Yes. Remember he rejected local (Memphis) doctors because he wanted one with a national reputation. (lol) He's been limping every since. Now look, he needs another. Get well soon......I guess

RE: Calipari to THE LAKERS ??
Calipari would be Lakers coach yesterday if he could.

Five NBA jobs he'd take no questions asked:

Lakers
Knicks
Bulls
Celtics
whatever team Lebron is on.

That said, why the hell would the Lakers want Cal?

Unproven in the NBA and would instantly be one of the most well paid coaches with at least four years guaranteed.

After the Mike D'Antoni fiasco, the Busses cannot afford another bad coaching hire.

But if they wanted Cal, cal is there.

The question then would be does KY go after Sean Miller? Of that happened, you know which domino falls next.

But if there are stories that the Lakers are considering Cal, cal put them out there.

RE: Calipari to THE LAKERS ??
I dunno if he will take the Lakers job just because Bryant has 2 years and a $48 million dollar contract.
That would eat up enough resources for them not to be able to get enough players in there for one season to turn it around.
Whoever comes in will have their azzes kicked for one year at least. THey should get someone is good at rebuilding projects.
I am surprised no one has mentioned Lionel Hollins as a candidate.

Didn't the Knicks talk to him before they hired Woodson?

I think Hollins would probably butt heads with Kobe.

But if the Grizz win tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised of OKC went after Hollins after the inevitable Scott Brooks firing.

Woodson was on D'Antoni's staff and was an interim coach who became head coach so I doubt Cal was interviewed.

If Cal can get a glamour job in the NBA and enough money to protect him from firing, he's gonna take it.

The Lakers might be down, but they'll have a great draft pick, enough money to get Melo or another high profile free agent, and Kobe and Pau with something to prove.
