I share that concern as well... I think the last wave of construction around the stadium utilized too much or that dark grey siding on buildings... I know it's cheaper option than other materials but I think it was over-used.

Conceptually, I think the new addition looks great. I don't think it's going to be an eyesore and ruin the charm, but it's definitely going to look different than what it was.

I agree the dark gray siding does not look awesome, but I'm also not sitting there and staring at it- fuming the whole game.

We needed some seats and luxury suites. We are cramped for space. What they are doing seems to look good. Can't have everything- and at least it's not a bunch of metal bleachers going up.

I think it will enhance the stadium. I'm guessing any changes made to the upper deck side will be similar in style/design.

I'm sure the use of all of the glass was done so as not to make the stadium feel too enclosed.

Seems the glass might make the stadium look less enclosed but I suspect it was done to allow the luxury suites and lounge areas greater field visibility.

Nippert already has an excess of charm. What it needs now is expensive seating to shake down the wealthier fans.

Actually, the gray siding wasn't done for cost savings; it was an intentional design element utilizing zinc which will get a patina much like copper does over time. While I wasn't crazy about it when it first appeared on TUC and the Steger Building, it does seem to bring some visual unity to a campus with lots of different colors of brick and stone. All that along with the brick pavers, sandstone gateway signs and landscaping have created a very coherent whole from what was a random collection of parts fifteen years ago.

I remember when that was put up and someone official from the University characterizing the gray siding as "value engineering." That siding has been up for years, and I'm not seeing any patina.
