RE: USA Today College Football Countdown by Paul Myerberg
The absolute best read I've seen. I couldn't agree more. It's almost like he read my mind.

His knowledge of our offensive line, quarterbacks, and running backs was astounding. He believes Troy has the most impressive offensive line the Sun Belt. He uses the word "aplomb" when considering our incredible QB recruiting. He has us right behind Louisiana in scoring offense, the only thing I may disagree with. 05-stirthepot

Everyone is talking about South Alabama's Offense, but I wouldn't sleep on Troy's offensive firepower this year.

He didn't know about the former 4-Star DE we got from GT who should help the pass rush, or the JUCO-All American at Return Specialist that also played WR (57 passes for 812 yards and 8 touchdowns). We got a very promising LB late from JUCO. These are guys that Paul (and Phil Steele) probably don't know about.

Seemed like a good write up. Sounds like replacing Corey Robinson is
the main thing to get right. With four candidates hopefully there is a
gem among them.

I don't forsee a whole lot of problems. We have the best offensive line, the best offensive coordinator and the second best (or tied with) receivers behind USA in the SBC. We return all five of our top five running backs including Jordan Chunn (Freshman All-American, 14 TDs). Whoever wins will have a much easier transition than most. This is the most talented group of QBs Troy has ever had, by far, and should also as a whole be the most talented group in the SBC, by far.

Silvers was ESPN's #27 ranked HS QB a few years ago, which would easily rank (on paper) in the top of the SBC with ULM's Pete Thomas and ULL's Broadway. He's a greyshirt, redshirt freshman and listed 1st on Troy's post spring depth chart. The "or" listed on the depth chart with Pruitt (below) means that while Silvers is #1, there isn't enough separation to list Pruitt as a clear backup. Pruitt could still win the job, and I expect him to.

Pruitt was the 1st Team JUCO All-American QB this year. 51 TDs, 7 INTs, 1 Sack (6 Rushing TDs). EMCC won the NJCAA Title Game and finished 1st in the standings. As quarterback, his team set the all time NJCAA record for total offense at 610 yards per game. 7,327 yards total I believe. He is the epitome of dual threat. Most SBC teams do not know how to deal with DT QBs. He is listed 2nd on the depth chart, but I think he wins the job.

Bravard's JUCO team finished #2 in the NJCAA standings. He has a 67-2 record as a starter between junior college and high school. He played 4A football in high school, the highest classification of Iowa high school football. Bravard threw for 2,172 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 1,181 yards and 17 touchdowns as a high school senior and was the first player in Iowa 4A (highest level in the state) to throw for over 2,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. Rivals listed him as a 3-Star QB. He is 4th on the post spring depth chart.

Tidwell is a junior. He is 6'7" and has played in several games in mop up duty for Corey Robinson. He tossed a 40+ TD pass to Chandler Worthy vs Ole Miss. He is listed 3rd on the depth chart.

Troy has had the best QB play or next best since we installed the spread eight years ago. I don't expect anything to change. We have the best QBs we've ever had by a mile, bring back almost everyone on offense and have added some huge talent to the oline and WR positions. We have never had an easier transition. We have been in the Top 33 in passing over the last eight years. In 2011, we went 3-9 and still were 17th in passing offense. Nothing is going to change at QB. In fact, we could be even better with a dual threat guy at the helm if he wins the job.

Does look good but will be very disappointed if we are not 7-5 or better and really think 8-4 or 9-3 are also real possibilities....of course I am pulling for 13-0 after the bowls but we shall see......really would love that last game to mean A LOT...with UL....over all really good write up and as has been said even have a couple other guys that are going to help....COGS

I think the author gives Berry far too much credit for Browning. Browning made Berry look good the last two seasons. Not the other way around.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you. But consider how the Cajuns performed when Broadway was out. Broadway, like Browning, is a huge part of the team. A few Cajuns are saying they will skate to an easy SBC title. But if Broadway goes down for a game or two, I suspect that will not be the case.

I'm not sold on the Cajuns. They got blown out by USA and beaten by ULM. NMSU even gave them a game for a while. They should be pre-season #1, but this is the SBC. Rarely does preseason #1 win the conference.

I agree. The Cajuns have a lot returning, but as you suggested, they played a few teams closer than a truly dominant team would, and lost to ULM, and blown out by USA (a decent team at the time, in their own right).

Huds teams have been good, but none of them have risen to a North Texas (04 and beyond), Troy (07-09), or Arkansas State (11, 12). They have been good, but not great and are certainly beatable.

That's okay, I'm not sold ULM without Browning. With Browning, you still managed only one bowl. I expect ULM to fall further back behind USA and Texas State.

If we live up to it, yes. But if we do, we might have trouble holding on to Coach JJ

The team certainly has the potential to.
As for losing CJJ, I hope we are successful enough every year in every sport that we have to worry about losing a coach.

Looks like the Red Wolves will likely be number 63, based on today's clue:

Who's No. 63? Two of this program's last three league losses have come to a program that is no longer a member of its conference.

Yeah, we're next. 1. WKU 2. ULL 3. WKU Did I ever mention that I don't like WKU anymore?

That's 8 spots down from last year, but considering we had a down year last year, I'll take it.

Nightmare season: The Warhawks beat only Idaho, Georgia Southern and New Mexico State.
Guess the writer thinks App State is a lock to beat the Louisiana Warhawks as he calls them
since we were not included in their wins and we play each other.
