RE: 2014 MAC Basketball Commitment List
For what it's worth (not much), Buffalo's Bearden was rated 79 by ESPN and a 3 star, not 69 and a 2 star.

Obviously I am a fan of Buffalo's class, but I really like what Ball State and Miami are bringing in as well. Ball State should be very competitive in a year or two. I think Miami should be better immediately.

RE: 2014 MAC Basketball Commitment List
While losing Quentin Rollins' defense and Will Felder's size/scoring will hurt a lot, I think we've done all we could on the recruiting trail to minimize their impact. We have a transfer who should be a big offensive upgrade over Q and the JUCOs should help provide size along with our existing players. Maybe the biggest change for the team as a whole will be that we'll have enough players to press more, towards the end of the season our press was giving teams fits but we had to back off with having only seven scholarship players on the bench.

For Akron, BJ Gladden was on the roster last year, as a redshirt.

Our only signees thus far are Ivey and Jackson.

Don't expect much from NIU since we have about 12 guys coming back and two transfers coming in.

While only walk-ons, Akron also has Malcolm Walters from St. Edward's and Cristen Wilson from John Hay.

Of the two, I think Walters has a shot at being a contributor. He's a definite D1 player. Wilson is probably more of a D2 guy, but highly productive in HS.

If nothing else, adding those two Cleveland kids, along with Ivey, Treadwell and Harney, should help in getting more kids from the loaded classes coming up in Cleveland in 15 and 16 classes (where Akron has a bunch of scholarships to offer).

re: KSU
•Marvin Jones had offers from SIU and Bradley.

Not sure if you are including these, but these guys were with the team this year sitting out and will play in the upcoming season:

•Jimmy Hall
F 6'7" 215
Brooklyn, N.Y. / St. Anthony H.S. / Hofstra
**Redshirted 2013-14 season and has three seasons of eligibility remaining

•Blake Vedder
C 7'4" 235
Chesterland, Ohio / West Geauga H.S. / Indiana [Pa.]
**Redshirted 2013-14 season and has one season of eligibility remaining

Odd tidbits--Deon Edwin's brother Jason was an All-MAC player who transferred from SLU and played for KSU in '03-'04 and "04-'05 along with now assistants Eric Haut and DeAndre Haynes. Senderoff was an AC then as well. Also, Jason Edwin's roommate? Current head football coach Paul Haynes.

That is an odd tidbit considering Paul Haynes was in school from 1987-1991 and in 2003-05 he was coaching at Michigan State and then Ohio State and probably rooming with his wife and kids.

03-lmfao

Hey, it was a brief brain shortage.

I misread the press release into "Coach Paul Haynes" and didn't add 2+2.

Jason Edwin roomed with Coach DEANDRE Haynes. Not Paul.

Doh.

RE: 2014 MAC Basketball Commitment List
Ohio picks up another commitment, this time from a sophomore PG transfer from U of Houston. Will sit out '14-'15 per NCAA transfer rules but will have 3 years eligibility remaining. Went to HS in Dayton, rated 3 stars by Scout, Rivals and ESPN. Solid backfill for seniors Taylor and Willis at PG. Ohio has 3 scholarships still open.

6-1 PG Jaaron Simmons(Dayton, OH)(University of Houston transfer), *** Scout, *** Rivals, *** ESPN
Offers: Houston, Dayton, Ohio, Kent State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Wichita State, St. Bonaventure, Charleston, High Point, Hofstra
