LSU cancels series with NC State
http://www.fbschedules.com/2014/04/lsu-c...-nc-state/

Games were scheduled at LSU for 2017 and at NC State for 2020. LSU will pay NC State $100,000 for the cancellation per the scheduling agreement.

RE: LSU cancels series with NC State
At least NC State had the sense to put an escalator clause in the contract for last-minute cancellations (not that it kicks in this early, just an observation in general).

I'd be on the phone to Mississippi State if I were NC State. They've got a lot of years to fill to meet the new SEC scheduling minimum.

Wuffies are breathing a sigh of relief .....

Kay Yow speaks to State easy schedule:
Yow, when asked about all of the cream puffs on NC State's upcoming football schedules, told the News and Observer that "we have to give ourselves a chance to be competitive."

Without naming names, there are those who would be willing to trade NC State to the AAC for ECU and a bag of chips...

Just speaking for myself, NC State is a game I am looking forward to and ECU is a conference killer. There is a reason that Tulane and ECU always end up together.

Funny.

Of course there's no way the ACC would make that trade.

State's too busy trying to set up home-and-homes with North Carolina Wesleyan and Mars Hill to be contacting Mississippi State.

Guess it goes back to Valvano but I've always like State. I'm glad to have games with Them in the future.

I don't get LSU's rationale. Why schedule Syracuse for 2017 when they had NC State? Why not have the Cuse return visit in 2016 or 2018? Why completely drop NC State?

As currently scheduled, Syracuse could have given LSU an away game in 2018. I wonder, though, whether SU has a tentative away game wih ND that year and didn't want to risk having two away P5's.

The rational is that no matter how bad NC State may be, it's not going too be a guaranteed win. Ask Texas in 1999 and Ohio State in 2003 and 2004. LSU does not need the risk. NC State also does not offer exposure in the NYC area.

In many ways NC State is the least desirable ACC team for another B-5 to play. You can get easier wins against Wake or Duke, you will get better exposure with UNC. You get a trip to Boston, Atlanta, Miami, and Pittsburgh with BC, GT, UM, and Pitt. You get a top 20 program with VT, Miami, FSU, or Clemson.

NC State is high risk, low reward for a school like LSU.

Do we have to ask Texas and Ohio State or can we ask East Carolina in 2013, or Akron in 2006?

We built a glass house for State in 1899 and tore it down 50 times since. It was so bad that State rented a singlewide in the outskirts of southeast Raleigh and we blew the windows out that mother three more times.

You talk about glass houses, you need to recognize the fact that even if State started a winning streak against Clemson it would take a quarter century before you just evened the streak. Glass house indeed.

Except that LSU has scheduled games with TCU, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Oregon and many other PAC 12 teams....

LSU just scheduled Syracuse for a home-home series I believe, and has Oklahoma on the slate in future years....I don't get why LSU canceled
