Also, the powers that be knew that changes have to be made in regards to the players. A longer playoff means more games, and also more injuries. And the BCS was designed deliberately with the same rationales. And it would never be changed.

Not exactly, the BCS was just supposed to match up the media selected 1 vs. 2 and have some other somewhat preselected major bowl matchups guaranteed.

The BCS didn't change significantly, it was eliminated.

The playoffs could become eight teams one day but it isn't going to be any time soon. Not until the objective of increasing the excitement for college football has been completed and separating the big boys from the others.
