It works on Montgomery Blazer.

Channel 6 was beating the pants off Spann tonight. He kept going to twitter pictures and was interviewing a preacher when the storm was coming up through Fairfield. Never saw twitter once on channel 6. The best thing that can happen for Birmingham is for Spann to retire.

Hope everybody made it through the storms ok. That's the closest I've ever come to one, as I was in UAB West hospital when the tornado came through. There was a lot of damage and reports of gas leaks to the apartments located just behind the hospital.

Spann is very good, and I would have agreed he was the best, but he kinda let me down last night. Just at the critical time when the big storm was over Bessemer and approaching the southside of Bham, his screens were instead up in Blount county, or showing a live video feed of darkness and lightning, or on a Twitter feed.

We'd been watching that storm for hours and were anxious about its track through Bham, Hoover, Homewood etc. and James left us at the crucial time. Jerry Tracy and Channel 13 stuck with Bham and was giving us detailed track as it passed through Bham metro.

To give James the benefit of the doubt, maybe he knew the storm had weakened as it approached our mountains, and it was less of a threat, but still...

It was remarkable the way the storm sorta fell apart just as it seemed it was winding up to hit Bham hard. I love Shades Mountain.

Have always watched Spann and read the blog but was disappointed with him last night. Bryan keep trying to tell him multiple times that a tornado was in the Kimberly/Morris area but he kept focusing on the one around Tuscaloosa. Once the fire dept was destroyed he decided to focus on it more.
i flipped back and forth after that and FOX6 was a lot better coverage but i do not like JP Dice

Spann is the best in the nation when it comes to severe weather...and why wouldn't he get jacked up about it when it happens? It's what he lives to do. Aren't we all that passionate if we love our jobs?

However, drop the temperature about 40 degrees and let him try to tell you what will happen and he's got nothing.

I appreciated CBS 42 coverage. One of their reporters was live on TV when a tornado passed over the bldg he was in.

I don't get the James Spann worship. He's no better or worse than anyone else on the whole. Last night he was definitely off his game. He's not the savior of Birmingham, he's just a guy on TV, and a lot of the time the things he does is self serving to increase his profile in the area and increase the amount of money he makes.
