RE: CUSA bought the Bahamas Bowl
I was wondering why in the world we wanted 7 to 8 bowls a year plus 3 backup deals when the AAC added the cure bowl vs sunbelt starting in 2015. I'm guessing we will trade our other two spots in the Bahamas bowl for CUSA's other two spots in Miami for BYU. That would give the AAC 6 Bowls instead of 7 for 2015 and 2016 and 7 for 2017 through 2020. 8 was to many.

I love it and if we are fortunate to go I will attend. Oh and it is one hell of a lot cheaper than the Hawaii Bowl. It's not a bad trip and if you do your homework you can find some deals on ravel and accommodations.

The problem with this thought is the American didn't create it, the MAC created the Bahamas bowl and got CUSA and the AAC to sign on as tie-in opponents in various years.

So then the grumblings about the American working on higher profile opponents for their Miami Beach Bowl started, they landed BYU, and traded CUSA a date in Miami for the Bahamas this year, and then CUSA purchases the Bahamas Bowl.

For those talking about moving it, according to the initial presser, the bowl has a six year contract in the Bahamas - so it won't be moving anytime soon.

Correct. It will be there for this bowl cycle. The Bahamas Bowl and the Miami Bowl are not going to become better bowls over this 6 year bowl cycle. They are what they are for now. However, in year 5, I suspect CUSA will be looking to move this bowl and upgrade the opponent. I suspect the AAC will be looking to upgrade the Miami Bowl as well.

RE: CUSA bought the Bahamas Bowl
Personally, I'm glad C-USA bought the Bahamas Bowl. C-USA should own most if not all of their bowls. If we did, we wouldn't have to worry about losing them. I hope the Bahamas Bowl airs on Fox Sports 1 too. ESPN doesn't seem to place a high priority on airing our championship game or bowls anyway. We deserve better then ESPNU.

Where do I start with this mess of a post. First, it doesn't take months to get a passport. Particularly if you are traveling in December or January to the islands. My military unit had to get government passports to travel to Belize three years ago in June. We order them in April and had them all back in three weeks.

Second, I also possess a civilian passport. I just renewed it in March and got it back at the end of March. Yes, if you wait until the busy season (summer season) you may have to wait two months or so. But as long as your background is clean you can usually get it back in less than two months and in some instances quicker than that.

Yes, it cost $150-$175 to get a passport. But the freaking thing is good for 10 years and if you travel or even if you don't travel, it is worth the investment to have a passport and it isn't a hassle to get one.

If you live in an area like DC, where I am, it takes a week to get a passport time at the post office., plus 4- 6 weeks for a new passport, unless you pay for the expedited service. This means for some people a 7 week procees, almost two months. IMO, this is an extra burden for a bowl game. Where I was wrong, however, was in the 25% figure for passports! it is now about 35%. Someone has already said that Conf USA needs to move this game to Florida, I agree.

As an aside, thank you for your service. I travel to some not so great places in the Middle East , Haiti and Eastern Europe where I work with organizations trying to make a difference in people's lives, always glad to see our military when I travel, and especially apprciative when I fly home and land at Dulles. Liberal or conservative, if you travel to places where people are killed for speaking out, or have no food or clean drinking water on a daily basis, you have to be amazed and how we have held it together in our country. So thanks for being a part of that holding together process.

Just fyi, you don't need to make an appointment at the post office. You can send in the paperwork yourself. You just need to go to a CVS, Walgren's, or P.O. to take a passport photo. Like you said, it can two months but you don't have to wait until the last minute to apply for a passport. It just takes some common sense planning.

1) The Hawaii Bowl didn't exactly propel USM football to the next level. At least, it didn't propel us in the right direction.

2) Banowsky almost certainly will be travelling to this new bowl game, and I doubt it will be at his own expense.
