HOD.. the politicians (now on both the LEFT and RIGHT) are now trying to use this to say that they're not going to defend Bundy in regards to an over-encroachign govt. response.

Guess what.. nobody helps defend against a totalitarian govt. then what?

"I don't like what you say, but I'll defend you to the death your right to say it"... Doesn't that mean anything to ANYONE anymore?

Nobody's discussing his right to say it. The right to say something does not protect anyone from social backlash.

Defending the right means that I'll fight for your right to say it, but after the battle's done I'm going to take you to town over it.

nomad, that's just it. I'm seeing all sort of people saying they're no longer supporting Bundy's fight against the BLM... It's becoming a "He's a racist, I can't defend him against the BLM".

And whose fault is this? Say stupid things and stupid things happen to you.

RE: Rancher's racist rant?
This is the problem I have with republicans.

They have a great issue here (BLM overstepping their bounds) but they screw it up by having some idiot raise the issue.

Bundy's wrong. BLM is wrong. It's hard to say who is more wrong.

Just like everything else in US politics. D's are wrong, R's are wrong. Both of them are pretty much wrong about everything. This is a microcosm of that.

RE: Rancher's racist rant?
so if the BLM moves back in, Bundy will just have to fight them off on his own with no public support whatsoever?

Again, I've already said that I think Bundy is a racist (Whether he believes it or if it's just how he grew up... you can argue that til the cows come home), but should that mean that BLM should now have the right to threaten him and his family, or collect/kill ALL his cattle? (if it's true that they killed his cattle when they did the first round-up).

In this case, it's a "lesser of two evils" I think.. there's no winning choice here.

The one thing I learned in all this is the federal government owns 80% of Nevada. I think we need a new Homestead Act. I know it is desert but there has to be some industry that can use that land.

I don't think Bundy is a racist as we tend to use the word. He's no where near as bad a Al, Jesse, Rev Wright, Farrakhan, and others who are on that long list. Did he ever employ any blacks on his ranch?

I still think he is in part... i think it was due to his up-bringing, I guess you'd call him a "subconscious racist"?

You don't use phrases like "we white people" (it was on another clip on FOX) if you're not.

DO I think he goes after blacks/latinos to decry his situation? Nope..

I understand where you're coming from, but public support is pretty damn fickle. At the end of the day, someone will come to his side indirectly.

And i believe he's racist as well.... There I've said it. I believe we have a president and AG who are both racists. ( Want to call me out on that one? You go right ahead!). Hell, I DON"T believe that about Biden or Clinton....but Obama and Holder? I do.

No, we don't. And I also think it's premature for conservatives to automatically distance themselves from him just to give the appearance of being PC. Hell, the guy lives on a ranch and is a throw back to days long gone.

Conservatives know how they look and being in open support of this man looks BAD.

Which move would seem smarter as far as the upcoming elections are concerned: distancing yourself from a man that people will forget about in a week or stand by him or have the MSM hold the support of an open racist over your head?

I admit that this may be wrong and I like to be consistent as far as rights and gov't intrusion are concerned, but I wouldn't be able to support him. Well, scratch that, I'd help him just to spite his views.

RE: Rancher's racist rant?
Supporting a man over his issues with a burdensome and overextended federal government is impossible because of the man's stance on an unrelated group.

That's really what this is about. This is about stripping any and all support for the man by using the untouchable issue of race. To implicate race, even without a rational connection, is to end this whole thing.

Race race race

Race race race

It's not impossible, just unwise.

They weren't supporting this guy because they felt the government overextended itself. These people ARE the overextended government. They did it because support of him would look good in the next election.

Then he went and f'd it up.

Isn't personal accountability begged for on this forum? Well this is where he has to face it.

Do you disagree with his statements that Latino immigrants are good people and a benefit to this country? why are you racist John..
