Maybe. But I can't see our players laying down and taking a beating against the brother of our ex-head coach, who betrayed our players trust.
Only time will tell.

Brother of your ex coach? I don't see that as being as big a motivator as nearly being embarrassed in your home opener by Wyoming last season. If it actually were your ex coach, it would be a different matter, but brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers just wouldn't do it for me unless they made some sort of disparaging remark. Having it out for someone's brother for no other reason than their blood relation borders on creepy for me.

Well prepared to be creeped the ef out then. The players are hyped.

It just sounds to me like you guys are trying to manufacture a rivalry. When you try that hard to create something that's really just not there, you often end up psyching yourself out because the other team's already living rent-free in your heads. Don't get me wrong... Hope it all works out and that you get a nice upset to start the season for C-USA, but the whole thing sounds like sensationalized trivial pursuit.

Going to be a lot of disappointed fans as pretty much every fan is going to say their school willl be bowl eligible when in fact only 7 or 8 max will more than likely be bowl eligible....

IF FAU goes into Lincoln and beats Nebraska and also wins at Wyoming than you guys are the real deal...Seems unlikely to me...

If you think he has the team going in the right directions, then you really should know more about the new coach. He's a a local guy, the players love him, and he's already had a 5 star and many 4 and 3 stars commit. Who knows if they stick, but he's already created a buzz that this program has never seen before.

That's great. He may turn out to be a great coach, but recruiting well and players loving you doesn't always translate into being a good head coach. I just wiki'd him and see he hasn't even been a coordinator on his own besides special teams. It looks like a gamble, but Doc was a gamble for us too and it seems to have worked out. I hope it works out for you all.

Here is our Schedule courtesy of The Owls Nest.

[Image: 2014_FAU_Football_Schedule_04-01-14.png]

NEB W (Yes, I think we surprise Nebraska)
ALA L
TUL W
WYO W
UTSA L
FIU W
WKU W
MAR L
UAB W
UNT L
MTSU W (50/50 on this since its @MTSU)
ODU W

Possible 8 wins, but most likely 7.
6 is worst case scenario

NEB L Not going to happen
ALA L - No need to comment
TUL W - Game is a toss-up
WYO L - No chance, the team will not be able to breathe. Stadium is over 1 mile above sea level. Going from sea level to high altitude is very tough. If FAU had them at home, I would predict a FAU blowout. WYO is not a very good football team.
UTSA L - agree
FIU W - Agree
WKU L - Close game but WKU will win
MAR L - agree
UAB W - agree
UNT W - Not sure but I think you win this one. NT is very beatable.
MTSU L - Close but no cigar.
ODU W - agree

5-7 or 6-6 would be a good prediction for 2014.

FAU will still be rebuilding this season. They are recruiting better and should be in the mix for the top of the east in 2015-2016.

Agree. This is a huge advantage for Wyoming. Y'all will see. I remember our players were puking the last time we went up there.

He was talking about FAU, but Tech fans were saying UNT wouldn't beat us in Ruston last year. That's why we play 'em.

FWIW we have owned UNT in the past, up until 2 years ago, they had never beaten FAU. I think they are much improved and its at thier house so I see them winning up.

The altitude at WYO is a concern, but I still think we will win it. MTSU has a venegenace factor involved since we pissed away a victory against them last year. I think the boys will remember that come game week.

Actually North Texas has won the last 3 (all games since coach Mac arrived). Everyone beat North Texas during our high school coach debacle so that's not much of an accomplishment.07-coffee3

I will not be surprised one bit if we beat Nebraska then fall to Wyoming by a wider margin that we'd lose to Alabama. Those two loses, then a loss at Marshall, and then a loss to either UNT, Middle, WKU, or UTSA.
8-4; Hopefully second in the East.

Damn, I lost a year somewhere. Ahh the ravages of age.

I still remember FAU's first win against UNT at Lockhart. I remember telling everyone that we would most likely lose because at that time you were still on the top of the SBC and was shocked when we won.

I agree to a point. But when your ex head coach is going to Nebraska radio stations and calling your program a joke, I don't think there's any manufactured anger there. The players are hurt, and are looking to prove a point.

North Texas is replacing several seniors, and it would make complete sense to believe that our team will not have the experience and talent we had last season. I happen to live in Denton and have seen our team. Coach McCarney isn't calling this a rebuilding season. We had some talented players step up in Spring. I think we have about 3 or 4 new starters that are going to surprise everyone, but I'm not going to go into detail about that. Personally, I don't think North Texas loses any of its home games this season.

8/30/14 at Texas L

09/06/14 SMU - W 50/50 Not sure how strong SMU will be, but we are rebuilding and coming off a L at UT

09/11/14 vs. Louisiana Tech - W I think Tech will improve, but we are good at home

09/20/14 vs. Nicholls State - W

10/04/14 at Indiana - L I really want to win this one, but on the road against an improving Big 10 team

10/11/14 at UAB - W Too much for UAB still

10/18/14 vs. Southern Miss - W Another improving team this year but not that improved

10/25/14 at Rice - L My heart says win, but my mind reminds me we are replacing 6 of the front 7 that stopped Rice last year

11/08/14 vs. Florida Atlantic - L 50/50 game. Very tough game here, and we tend to lose one head stratcher each year

11/15/14 at UTEP - W Miners just not there yet.

11/22/14 vs. Florida International - W Damn well better be

11/29/14 at UTSA ???? 50/50 game and I can't even guess. NT will want revenge, but UTSA is bringing back everyone but Sosa

So that is 7 wins without UTSA. Bowl eligible, but probably out of the race in the west. I think 7-5 (with a loss to UTSA) is probably what to expect. We are replacing so many seniors. In this type of year, I will take a bowl berth.

I like our chances now that we have a good coach and have plugged our holes with some JUCOS.

That said I can see us getting to 6 and getting left out.
