Most bowls will go that way... How much longer will the spud bowl hang on?

They really should have done this Bowl in Puerto Rico...
But if its the Bahamas that were willing to let them use the national stadium cheap, looking for the de facto tourism advertising on ESPN, and Puerto Rico wasn't offering the same deal, then Bahamas it is.

I don't think that the Go5 participants would have struck the deal if it involved a large guaranteed ticket allotment.

I don't believe there is a stadium in Puerto Rico that is capable of being converted over to football easy enough to host a game, especially near the San Juan (tourist) area.

Estadio Loubriel is in San Juan and holds 22k but the stadium seating its shaped like a baseball stadium but the field looks to be soccer first...so the basic football field is there without a problem.

And nobody there would pay to go see football yet alone college football with teams and players they have no ties to nor never heard of. I've been there for many baseball games, something near and dear to them, and people wouldn't even show up with free passes. Only thing this would offer over the Bahamas is the lack of passports needed. I also don't see their tourism people putting any time and money into trying to attract it and then promoting it.

Brett McMurphy just tweeted that a source said CUSA bought the Bahamas Bowl and will play the MAC 4 out of next 6 years (don't know what the previous arrangement was).

Well that sucks.

The previous agreement was AAC 3 years and CUSA 3 years.

CUSA now is guaranteed to play us 4 years and up to 6 out of the 6 year deal.

Was the MAC scheduled to be there all 6 years?

That is the impression I got.

Though ESPN said that they could shuffle some aligned conference bowl spots around to get some better match ups.

No, Sun Belt gets a couple of years I think. Unless that has changed. A lot of the new, lower tiered bowls have changed since originally announced.

First I have heard of the Sun Belt having a primary tie in for this bowl.

The tie ins over the next 6 years were American 3, C-USA 3, MAC 4, Sun Belt 1, and MWC 1. C-USA is taking the American's slot this year but no other changes were announced.
