Men's Hoops So Where are we now?
I know this sounds crazy but if we could sign a center I believe one scenario (maybe) is that Wilson, Farhart and Perry all get scholies next year.

However if not we may have room for 2 more which would include the center spot. Right know that appears to up in the air between Joseph, Dieng and the Paris JC.

Or do you use one of the two spots for a player this year? Or give it to a transfer to sit out a year some like James Kelly from UCF or Percy Gibson or Hawkins?

By the way Mercer and Pitt went to Albert yesterday. I believe honestly that Albert feels EMU is beneath him hence the lack of commitment.

Some guesses:

Vucetic from Nebraska
Smith Cal State Bakersfield
Samuels Indiana St
Runs St Bonaventure
Jurirek S Alabama
Kaufman Oral Roberts
Langerson UT Arlington

Also the one Georgetown 5th year transfer I was throwing around is going to Nebraska.

Hmmm - eligible right away? How many years eligibility left?

Exciting - we need help now at that position

Check on the separate transfer thread to see those transfers who have committed, some have eligibility information as well. Its where I drew my database from.

Clyburn is a non qualifier-Owens Community scouted him at the King James

Dieng continues to draw interest ie CMU, us, NIU, WMU, Oakland, U of M, St Joe, St Bonnie

Albert is also a grade issue

Joseph signed with UT-Martin

Bocoun is down to deciding between North Texas and us.

Bingham no news at all.

Doesn't look very encouraging from the names we know. At some point I get discouraged. Heck we were a 22 win team last year against probably the toughest non conference schedule EMU has played and we still have players passing us by to play for U of T-Martin?! What are we doing with all these academic "maybes"?

MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT CLYBURN MAY QUALIFY. I have heard that prep school may be in his future. Owens CC looking at him as well if he does not qualify. haven't heard any concrete commitment to date.

As I've stated before, he can play.

P.S. COULD THERE BE SOME PLAYERS OUT THERE THAT WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TO DATE? TIRED OF REHASHING THE SAME OL NAMES.

I can see a prep school if he doesn't qualify. Otherwise he'd be in prep school looking for better offers

Well that hurts. We're now down to one last known center candidate (minus the 7 foot mystery transfer)

http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/nouhoum-bocoum

I had hoped our 22 win season would see more of an upgrade in our recruiting results in competition with other schools especially the MAC-losing Dieng to WMU and Gill to Ball St. tell me otherwise.

Agree with you 79, now what are we going to do for a center. With Riley and Bryant graduating, you would think with all the PT available at those 2 positions that we would have signed a center/pf or two by now!

Wouldn't think it would have been that difficult.

Most teams have finalized their 2014 recruiting class.

The news just keeps coming-Bingham to Mott CC. That solves that mystery.

I got us with Bond (no confirmation on LOI by the way), our PG, Wilson walk on or not, Nobles, and our JUCO forward. That's five if there are all on scholies plus one transfer that's six, we have 5 main players returning.

One more? Two more?

I mean, I wouldn't get bent out of shape over a kid that wasn't even going to be a scholarship player here.

These things have a way of playing themselves out. I'd be willing to bet we get a committment from Bocoum sometime in the near future, along with a couple names nobody here has heard of.

That being said, it would have been nice to have a former EMU standouts kid on the bench.

Yeah, it would have been really nice to have had Theron's son out there. And we need the front court help.

He made the right choice for himself. Scholarship money is worth a lot.
