Not a fan of Brady. He is one of these coaches that doesn't believe that the non conference really matters. Not what CUSA needs as it struggles for respectability. He also strikes me as kind of a jerk.

I wouldn't hire Brady. He would jump at the offer because he knows he is on final year contract at Arkansas state and AD is not impressed nor is the fan base.

If we're going for washed up former LSU coaches, let's just drag Dale Brown back from his Sasquatch quests in British Columbia. He's at least entertaining.

There are plenty of good candidates out there. Thats just 10, some are retreads, some are assistants looking for a chance. Some are current, successful NCAA tournament coaches.

I think he actually has threee years left, definitely more than one year. Also, per the earlier post, he was getting LSU money the first 3 years that was added to the $100K. Hard to argue with the rest of your post.

I think the best part of this article is that Underwood apparently wants the USM job:

Kind of? He is a jerk.

Here's the skinny on Brady. High Transfer rates because he is very confrontational with players in practice. Players who don't perform get buried to the bench. He will rarely recruit any high school talent, and instead focus on JUCO's and D1 transfers, and his coaching ability costs teams games.

Now...the up side is that he will certainly win enough games to be respectable. ASU is consistently near the top of a Weak SBC every season. the problem is he'll never win the regular season title, and never win the conference tournament...meaning the best postseason shot is the CBI. Where ASU refuses to play.

If you guys really wanted Brady, a lot of ASU fans would help him pack. That being said...he keeps talking about retiring in Jonesboro. He's got a nice house in a gated community, His wife loves it here, and he has zero concerns about job security because he knows that no ASU booster cares enough about the basketball program to pony up the 450K to buy him out when the administration can convince the boosters to send that money to give the football program more cash instead.

RE: John Brady from Arkansas State
Chiefsfan, that all makes sense, except that I think he did recruit high school kids at LSU. He definitely brought in Glenn Davis. I think his reasoning at AR State may just be that he'll get better players by poaching malcontents from power schools than he would get if he recruited kids right out of high school.

John definitely is confrontational and abrasive. (And yeah... he polishes the bench with Super Glue). Personally, I prefer that to the Donnie Tyndall style ("gosh what a great gym oh has it really only been two years"). But a lot of people can't deal with it.
