This actually makes a lot of sense. Leftists also claim that Happy Meal toys make kids fat and are the sole reason for childhood obesity. I didn't believe it. I said "That's ridiculous, those toys aren't even that great. How can a child love them so much that they desire to eat McDonalds to the point of obesity?" I wasn't thinking with an open mind. I was only thinking about me and my friend's influences as children. These are lib children we are talking about here. The kind that are influenced to eat McDonalds just because of a Happy Meal toy. The kind that will complain about getting a gender based toy in their meal.

I will make a proposal that ensures both sides get their way. From now on, when every happy meal is ordered, the cashier shall ask "What side of the political spectrum do you identify yourself with?" -- If they're on the left they then say "I'm sorry, it is for your own good that we do not include a toy. We do understand that this influences you to eat our food. If you still desire a happy meal that is on you." If they're on the right they say "Would you like to make it a large for $1.09? Never mind, I already know the answer. I'll throw in the apple pie too."

I'm totally being a jack@$$ just to procrastinate this paper...I really don't think it matters. Many people are stupid no matter what their beliefs are, and there will always be "that guy" who complains about everything.

The newest liberal "right": the "right" to never EVER have your belief system challenged, inconvenienced, offended, not recognized, or not catered to by the rest of the world.

I for one thing this sort of thing should be fostered. It will mean they'll eat their own eventually. It is as inevitable as unpaid interns suing for living wages as liberal political publishers.

It's really not "new", GTS. In fact, that is almost precisely what the original "Political Correctness" debate was about in the mid-late 1980s: a campaign to require everyone to hold opinions, and to express the opinions they held, in a manner the Left deemed morally acceptable. Only then, the insanity was confined (mostly) to college/university campuses. Now the disease has spread and infects essentially every aspect of life, even something as mundane as the toys distributed by fast-food restaurants. That's what happens when the zealots continually get their way for 25 years. But fear not: I have great confidence that the media will find some way to blame this, too, on the "Religious Right".

I have two daughters, and about 75% of the time the toy difference was that they were pink or blue versions of the same damn toy.

I also know that on the occasions my girls liked the "boy" toy better, I never had a hassle swapping it out. Maybe it's those sexist Connecticutions?

Same here... I can count on one hand the # of times I would go to McD/BK in six months and I lived down the street from one..

There was a period when my kids were getting it once a week but we have paired that down to about once a month now..
