Georgia State basketball had an incredible 2013-2014 campaign as the Panthers won their first conference title since 2002. The momentum for a title run has carried over to the off-season as GSU has added its second transfer from a power conference school in as many weeks. As first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBSSports, former Indiana Forward Jeremy Hollowell has committed to transfer to Georgia State.

Jeremy Hollowell is from the Indianappolis area and played in the same region as Georgia State star R.J. Hunter in high school. Coming out of Lawrence Central HS, Hollowell was rated as the 42nd best player in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2012. In playing just over 18 minutes per game, Hollowell averaged 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Indiana.

Just two weeks ago, PantherTalk.com broke the news that former Louisville guard Kevin Ware would be transferring to Georgia State as well. Ware was rated as the 96th prospect in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2011. Hollowell will likely have to sit out a year per NCAA transfer rules. Ware has petitioned for a waiver so that he may be able to play immediately.

Hollowell and Ware are the fourth and fifth players to transfer to Georgia State from a power conference school since Ron Hunter took over in April 2011 joining Manny Atkins (Virginia Tech), Curtis Washing (USC), and Ryan Harrow (Kentucky).

Ya, I wish it was one they would "break". Apparently, being in a city like Atlanta can be a big advantage for the right coach.

Easy to recruit when you don't have to recruit.

What does it take to make a few here understand that could be happening here with the right coach?

It is a strategy that has its risks. Usually when players transfer there is a reason other than simply family matters. Hoiberg has made it work very well at Iowa State, but there can be a downside.
