I don't get it and the fans don't either. I haven't counted all the p5 conference schools however there are only about 7 or 8 relevant in Championship talk consistently. The rest don't matter any way and most have about the same shot at a tittle as Army..

According to some of the Pitt and Syracuse posters on the ACC board, it is just a matter of time until they win a national championship in football after all these years.

For this Cincinnati, I am tired of hearing those two schools crow about how great they are and how my alma mater is garbage in football. We kicked Syracuse's rear 8 out of last 9 times we played them. It got to the point that we slotting them for Homecoming every other year. Pitt lost to us 4 out of the last 5 times we played them... including 2012 when we beat them like a drum.
They will ride the coat tails of their conferences while not doing much of significance.
Many people want to B&M about money, money, money but money isn't everything. Look at NC State's Vaugn towers, and the millions they cost. Does that make them play any better on the field? No.
Money will never account for G5 workhorses who want to make it to the NFL, overlooked recruits, kids who develop late, up and coming coaches, players with a chip on their shoulders, mental toughness, etc...Sure, great facilities will attract good recruits. The chance to play for a national championship will attract good recruits. But so will charismatic coaches. Recruits know not every team is going to be a national title contender and may chose to go somewhere for playing time, the coaches, or possible nfl development. UVA has had a lot more money than ECU for years and years but we have a winning record against them and could've wiped the floor with them last year. I'd understand if the game was played in dollars and cents but it's not. It's played with strength, toughness, heart, passion and a little luck.
Contrary to what I've read elsewhere I do believe money has diminishing returns in college football. 'Bama can drop 1 billion on upgrades but I doubt it boosts them much further. We would get exponentially larger results with 1/10th of that money.
Pitt and Cuse hang onto past glory as if it was 2 years ago. Pitt's best year, while UC was in the same conf with them, was 2009. UC beat them for the BE CH. Cuse was pretty much irrelevant. Cuse was in a 4 way tie for BE CH in 2012.
This isn't about athletic success. If it was, you'd lower half P5 schools spearheading conferences in order to win more games and build their own profile.
Pitt and Cuse may not bring squat to football for the ACC right now but they bring good hoops and really does it matter? Pitt and Cuse are at the big boy table, they could care less what we all think.

In the ACC, Pitt wont bring squat in basketball eventually either, and both its fan bases will dwindle. What happens to Cuse, after JB leaves remains to be seen

20 Million a year vs 2 Million a year in TV revenues before any bowl payouts. Hmm, yup pretty pathetic marketing ploy. Also, the Access Payouts for one P5 team basically gets what all of the G5 get in the Access Money. The P5 really needs to fire someone for this failed marketing ploy. ;-)

True, but how much longer will schools who are use to being relevant, get tired of being not? That's the question. It may take 15 years 25 years or 100, but some schools will change conferences when possible, just so they can can be in the national spotlight once again. Conference realignment is a never ending process. As leadership is generational the ones in power will be fade into history. The new leadership will have they own reasons too why they will do what they will do, based on their own market force reasons. Change is the one constant in life we all can count on.

Well said!
We don't know what the TV money will look like in 5, 10 or 20 years. The American should make more in the renegotiation - how much depends on how we do.
If the payouts start to level, then teams may realign based on region, rivalries and chance to win championships.
And remember, more money doesn't mean more champinoships. If it did, Texas and Ohio State would always win.

And think about this. While Cincy beat UConn about 67% of the time, UConn similarly dominated Syracuse and Pitt. Something like 14-6 against those schools, but against Cuse, lots of blowouts.

That's simply not true. They will follow the money. A school will NEVER change conferences if it means they will take a large cut in GUARANTEED payouts.

I posted this on the realignment board. If you're a fan of the old Sylvester the Cat cartoon, those folks remind me of Chester from "Chester and Spike".
