Looks like Affirmative Action is dying...
But we have a newly created cabinet level position paying probably close to $200,000 a year to further Alger's affirmative action delusions...
I caught a lot crap when I condemned the hire of Alger publicly. I will forever believe that "progressive agenda" hires never work. America voted twice for a similar progressive in the last 8 years. Check his approval ratings now..

yea dont pretend you were a choir boy - in the past youve clearly been anti Semitic.
That being said, affirmative action is a dying construct, mostly because it is inequitable, and doesnt work.

RE: OT: Affirmative Action and Alger
Looks like Alger's efforts in at UM are being undone...
https://www.jmu.edu/president/president-...-bio.shtml
Quote:Alger had previously served as assistant general counsel at the University of Michigan, counsel for the American Association of University Professors, attorney-advisor in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, and as an associate in the Labor and Employment Section of the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. At the University of Michigan, Alger played a key leadership role in the university’s efforts in two landmark Supreme Court cases on diversity and admissions and coordinated one of the largest amicus brief coalitions in Supreme Court history. He has since advised universities nationwide on how to build and sustain diversity initiatives and programs. At the American Association of University Professors, Alger worked with faculty members from around the country in developing and advising institutions nationally on policies, procedures and cases on issues such as academic freedom, shared governance, tenure, due process and discrimination. At the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, he was the point person on the development and implementation of national policies involving race-conscious financial aid, racial harassment and free expression. He began his career by representing major Fortune 500 companies at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

Love your posts, Cent. But I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're white. I have heard this argument from many friends who I know aren't racist in the slightest, and judging by your posts, I know you aren't either. but I just think it's hilarious when white people call things like this "inequitable". "It doesn't work" is an argument worth having, though.
P.S. If you're not white, I'd love to hear more about how it's unfair

I'm sorry, I didn't read where Cent mentioned fairness. Let's not deviate from a well regarded fact: life isn't fair. Most Americans believe in equal opportunity regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, etc. Fairness and equal opportunity are two very different and distinct ideals. Here's a prominent gentleman's opinion on the subject, one that rings true in the hearts and minds of the rational among us:
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!

RE: OT: Affirmative Action and Alger
Madisonian hit where I was going. Our republic values equity under the law over whatever "fairness" means today.
Also, why does it matter what color I am?
