Take heart libs, we are in for a long ride to SC case to SC case to determine how much discrimation the voters want is constitutional. Soto rejoices.

It's ironic that one particular race accepted racism for 250 years until they were forced to stop it. Now they want that scar to heal in less than 60 years.

Wow, it must have taken a helluva broom to make a generalization that sweeping.

Damn you are dense. People alive today had nothing to do with what happened 250 grade years ago. You are the one picking at the scab.

Scars don't heal, ever...

Wounds heal, they only heal if you leave them to heal. Keep screwing with old wounds and they become scars..

So we agree that if we stop screwing with the wound it will heal on it's own... good to know..

Of course she is upset over it, she's been a product of those programs.

How do you know?

She's said so herself.

RE: Justices approve state bans on affirmative action
There should not be a race block in any application. Let the merits of the student do the talking. If anyone wants any consideration for admittance let it show in their g.p.a. and excurricular activities that don't involve sports.

But. There should be a block for conservatives and liberals. Any liberal application should be Filed 13.

LOL, j/k Feet, I just wanted you to blow a fuse. But, the first paragraph stays.

I think we agree that slavery left a scar on this nation that will never heal.

Slavery's scar could've been long healed--and a subject not talked about-- around the 20s or 30s, but the sentiment had to be extended another 100 years. It turned a laceration into a festering wound. Now we're just getting to where we should've been 80 years ago. It'll get better.

The way that slavery ended has proven to be the serious issue. Dumping 3 million slaves onto the streets has created a perpetual underclass. As much fun as it may be to blame Jim Crow that action has intertwined economic and racial discrimination as to render them indistinguishable from one another.

I will say this.... The US failed to live up to the 40 acres and a mule promise... Unfortunately it's not possible to give that to every African American alive today but then it would have been doable.

I have more than a few scars myself... While they tell a story I don't live my life around them..

A disastrous and tragic failure, but one that illustrates the core reality about the battles of 1861-65: "ending" slavery, and the general welfare of the slaves, was less-than-incidental to that war.

Beginning in June 1865, it would have been a simple matter for the Federal government to give the freed slaves ownership of peninsular Florida. Very few whites lived there and (at least in the North) the political temper of the times would have been supportive of such an action.
