It will be interesting to see how ECU handles the hype. There are plenty of senior leaders, but its rare air for the Pirates.

........ Jeff Blake comes to mind.......... 1991 Heisman candidate, finished 10 in the voting.... How did we handle that hype.......

Blake actually finished 7th. The best & most aesthetically pleasing deep ball in NFL history. I was spoiled with the bomb as a child growing up on ECU football. Remember the one right before the half in the Peach Bowl to Hunter Gallimore. I posted these highlights below on another thread a few weeks ago but they bear repeating. A soft catchable pass where the ball would seem to float into the WR's hands like a parachute.

ESPN's Chris Berman regularly remarked that Blake threw the ball "out of the screen". Tom Jackson would say, on Blake's bombs "you don't see the ball for a while". He was also a great scrambler and earned the nickname "Shake-n-Blake" as a result. In the 1995 Pro Bowl he threw a record 92-yard touchdown pass to Yancey Thigpen.

I meant to in the top 10 in voting. But, yes I remember those bombs as well. Started going to ECU games in 1986 at 5 years old.

Or like 2011 one

How about the 2012 one?

Yes, but 2011 one takes the cake. ECU logic? Lose by 50= lose by 20?

I'd say over-all record is important but what is more important is the '09 championship game because so much was at stake.

I think there is actually a lot of traction for a solid rivalry between ECU and UH. Both our fan bases are good at getting under each other's skin and the two programs are always gonna be perennial contenders.

UH fans dont get under my skin like some ucf fans 05-stirthepot...I cant tell who's who though because the names are all so similar.

ECU and Houston fans are like two cats in a bag, I expected these threads between your two fanbases just not this early.

Well, That explains why you suck.. Come back to G Vegas for another beat down like the 09 conference championship....

That's uncalled for..

AGREED! Come on, Oracle! No need to come out of the gate firing shots like that! NOTHING pesik said warranted that.

I find it interesting last time Carden played Houston he just got surgical on your defense and made you cry.

He didn't really say anything negative about Carden. No need to be defensive.

Wins vs USC, VT would draw plenty of attention.

I have no hopes of Shane winning, but just making it to NY would be a great deal exposure.
ECU would probably have to go at least 11-1 *And* Carden would need some "holy-sh*t" type of statistics in order for him to win the trophy. But I wish the best for him.

RE: More Carden 4 Heisman Buzz
Its a lot of ifs and im not even sure if he even cares about individual awards. Shane is a great team player and as long as the team wins he wins. I think its cool just to have someone in the conversation. We know a great deal of things have to fall into place but he has worked hard to get to this point. He had great numbers last year but it was against CUSA teams. With the offense that we have he could throw for 4000-5000 yards and close to 40 TDs if he produces those type numbers then it would be hard to argue with. We havent had a player in the convo of the heisman since 1991 and Jeff Blake.
