Throwing Streamers at Graduation
I thought this was pretty cool and I wanted to share:

@SGAjmu2014: @JMU We're excited to announce that we'll be throwing streamers at the end of the graduation ceremony

Throwing Streamers at Graduation
Ok I tried to resist the urge... But I had to put a negative spin on this as is customary On the DukesDomain...

That's great! Now we will have use for streamers because there won't be anyone in the stands to throw them during football games!

Not the only thing. Apparently that drug test came out positive too.

RE: Throwing Streamers at Graduation
So wait, does this mean graduation is back at BFS? I thought we couldn't do that due to making people walk, and the traffic problems.

Edit: Just found my own answer:
University Ceremony
Bridgeforth Stadium
Friday, May 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

So what changed that we can do it there now, but it was such an issue previously? Is it because this is now taking place on a Friday?

The college ceremonies are now on Saturday so there isn't a rush to shuttle Granny from one side of the campus to the other in 30 minutes.

I think this was Alger's decision. Most people would give him "+1" for this move (especially the local hotels), but it has shifted the final exam schedule from Monday-Friday to Friday-Thursday. I believe this means this semester is shorter by one day than previous years. I wonder if we'll see any cost savings from the move that could be applied to the new Convo. 02-13-banana

Alger overruled some underlings who had moved on their own in the presidential transition to eliminate the BFS ceremony.

At least we're now using the stadium more than five/six times year.

I applaud giving more time between the mass graduation and invidividual colleges ----- but making that turn graduation into a 2 day event seems a bit ridiculous. I am sure it could be accommodated in one day still. Seems to me like a money grab and the parent's expense and an economic decision to hotels and restaurants.

Most hotels require a minimum two night stay for graduation weekend already, or am I misremembering that? That said, it certainly makes it harder on parents from NOVA and Richmond areas that want to drive in for the day and head home, as I doubt people would want to do that two days in a row.

I would just tell my family to come when I walk. I'm fine with that.
