That's pretty sweet! Glad they are only revising and not putting something completely different up there. The artwork on the Eye Hospital is a rather iconic piece of the southside.

Having said all of that, however, I would like to take this opportunity to officially get the conversation started about the hard hat that was featured in the video.

I think they said that the artwork is worth $6 million or something? I don't see them trashing a $6 million asset.

They're not going to trash it. They're going to clean them up, repaint it (per the artist's original design, because the current paint is faded), and reinstall it. In short, it'll look the same, only better.

Its worth $11 million as of last year.

I think I may be the only one who doesn't like the artwork.

I think it may be more nostalgic for everyone. I remember when I was a kid, my dad was in an accident in which he almost lost an eye. He was hospitalized at UAB. I remember as a small child going to the hospital to see him, worried he would lose his eye, but still finding that piece of artwork cool as hell. Seeing it after all these years still bring those memories back and how thankful we were the doctors saved his eye.

I wasn't alive when it was put up there. At this point it's kind of iconic of that area of campus. Good or bad, I'm glad they're putting it back up.
