Unfortunately it's the nature of those in power these days to silence the critics rather than fix the problems. So I'll most likely be signing off of the board. It was a good run at exploring some of the problems the Jmu athletics department faces and possible solutions to them.

Damn. That's just wrong on so many levels. As a state employee, you have a first amendment right to free speech on many levels. If you are getting e-mails from other JMU people complaining about you personally and what you are saying, it could be problematic depending on who the e-mail is from. I don't know who you are and if I did, I would never out you. Those that want to out themselves can do so.

yeah, this could have potential legal issues depending on the situation. he's simply relaying news early, that yet another player can't lay off the weed. he's supposed to be silenced for that? Stop covering up and start addressing the real problem. The problem is your players and your coach. That's who you talk to.

So, when should we expect to have a public announcement on the individual responsible for this failed test?

Is "Not Matthew Stoss" on the case?

Barkers, thanks for the info. I hope you can find a way to lay low and stick around. You definitely make these boards fun!

By the way, Barkers comments reaffirm the fact the athletic department reads these boards.

If JMU is trying to actively raise money for a new Convo then it might want to consider finding a coach who has a handle on the basketball program. A coach who will give confidence to the alumni giving to the Duke Club and Convo Capital fund.

This f***ing administration....they're lucky that so many alums are disengaged from the university and don't know what is going on here. This school needs a house cleaning if they are now trying to silence message board posters.

If it is Curry then we ar screwed.

A part of me wonders if it is one of Cooke's housemates and evidence of why he wanted to get out of the toxic environment.

Just playing devil's advocate, but if barkers is a JMU employee he more than likely agreed to certain policies, including not sharing "proprietary information" in public forums. I would guess the definition of "proprietary information" is pretty broad and would almost certainly cover drug test results of athletes. If that were the case, JMU would be interested to know who the employee is and whether policy's being broken.

Now, having said all that I appreciate the info he provides and hope that he can continue to remain anonymous and spill the beans!

How is Bradys job still safe after all of this? He needs to go before it's too late.... never mind it already is.

Don't. You're the only person on the boards that offers true insight into JMU athletics.. The "Book It" crowd are the ones that need to sign off.

This just in... you're a douche. Book it.

Usually not the school. Usually the coach because they are all micro-managers.

At UVA back in the day Danny Wilmer used to feed information to his buddies about recruiting. Al Groh cut that off pretty quickly and made a lot of enemies doing so. Those guys didn't give a crap that Wilmer wasn't retained as an assistant. They were pissed that their flow of information was cutoff.

Funny story I know about. Duke insiders used to get a ton of recruiting information fed to them. Coach K tried to figure out who the leak was so he could stop it but he never could. Shortly after Chris Collins got the Northwestern job the information stopped flowing.

Honest question...

Is there any insider-type information that you would NOT want someone to post on this board? I'm not talking about opinions or lies, but true info about teams, coaches, players, etc., that someone only knows because of their insider status.

Yes. Family and personal issues relating to coaches and players that are not made public
Legal issues that university or individuals have not released or not public

Players actual grades and academic standings(not speculation)

Specific conversations with in lockers rooms or athletic offices.

Yeah, I would think that a Michael Sam-type situation would be over the line in terms of sharing, IMO.

Danny Wilmer was the man for getting juicy info. He was a fun guy to talk too!
