No way ODU beats Tennessee, Arkansas, TCU, etc., etc., etc. I think he forgot ODU and people e-mailed and to save face stuck them at 83.

RE: App State Orlando Sentinel Ranking
I'm looking forward to 2015. App has enjoyed some memorable years ending in 5 since moving up to Division One.

1975: 8-3 / 3-3 So Con, wins over South Carolina, Wake Forest & East Carolina.
1985: 8-3 / 6-1 SoCon, a 7 point loss at South Carolina and 3 point loss to Wake.
1995: 12-1 / 8-0 SoCon, Conference Champions, 12 straight wins, including Wake Forest, before losing in 1-aa playoffs.
2005: 12-3 / 6-1 SoCon, Conference Champions, 1-AA National Champions.

Interesting that even though the best team ODU beat is Idaho (their only FBS win) and they are considered a top 90 team.

Meanwhile, Georgia Southern has wins over ODU in 2011 and 2012, has a 2013 win better than any of ODU's while our coach was experimenting with our offense in a transition year, and we get put into the bottom 5.

Lucky for us public opinion doesn't decide the season.

People fall in love with high-octane offenses. Reporters, too.

I think he knew full well where he was putting ODU, he just jumbled the bottom of the rankings up to get people talking. Tennessee at 60 doesn't draw eyeballs. Tennessee at 89? That gets tongues wagging.

Sentinel is all about trying to attract attention to their column. Hence why Tennessee and ODU are so misranked. It gets people reading, and gets the writer recognized.
