NOt a big deal.. just was an issue on saturday for me..but i figured it out and solved the problem.

I think interesting issue is older generations..50+ always carry cash...35 and younger never carry cash..

Yup I rarely carry cash. I don't even think I have used an ATM in the past 5 years.

So you would rather use a portable ATM at Huskie Stadium that charges an exhorbitant fee than stop at your bank's ATM before the game and get cash for no fee? 01-wingedeagle

I don't pay ATM fees...Bank reimburses me for all of them..

Just carry cash. Saves money. No hassle.

This is hassle free as well. It takes a second to swipe your card and sign. Its 2014, if you sell stuff, you should have the ability to accept credit and debit cards.

I own my own business. We sell pro audio gear. I am here to tell you that we do not like credit cards because we lose 3% of EVERY sale that is done with a credit card. The banks & credit card companies are raping us. When a church wants to charge $15,000 worth of audio gear that is a HUGE hit. Out margins are already very low.
When someone want to use a debit card on a small purchase, that hurts too because we have a minimum they charge us...$5.00 on a transaction.

Yea...it's 2014 & we are making less & less & working more & more. 03-weeping

I either have to charge a service fee or lose a LOT of money.

I will not take Amex or Discover at all. They rape us even more than Visa & MC. :-(

Yeah.. sorry about that..

Back to the topic..

I think NIU is trying to improve the game day experience and also have fellow huskie fans socialize, instead of being isolated in parking lots.

Eventhough THE YARD was 25% set up(no flat screen in HAF tent, no stage, no vendors, beer garden better improve, etc).. I still liked that they took the time to set it up so you could see what it would be like for future game days. Plus the outlining of the parking spaces(including demos with a tent off the back) and a sample RV spot was nice also...

Though I am pretty sure I will end up in Stevenson(2nd choice) so the reserved spots won't apply to me

Why not change service providers.. I know square is at 2.75% flat..

Or Quickbooks does 2 options:
1. $19.95/month then 1.75%+$0.25
2 Pay as you go 2.40% + $0.25

I have clients who pit these companies against each other all the time to get the rate lower(kind of like cable companies..

Any food trucks in the DeKalb area or west suburbs? More food selection is always a plus instead of fattys over and over again

2.75% of audio gear purchases is still a ton of money. I will look into quickbooks. Appreciate the info. Thanks Cartershaw. 04-cheers

I actually have looked at making a switch. Most of them want you to have quantity...which we do not have. We are not a walk-in type "music store". We do mostly customer system design work. Most people do not know that businesses lose money when customers use debit & credit cards to buy from a business.

OK - sorry . Giving the thread back now. :-)

RE: Spring Game Experience
I think the donor reception was nice. Good to see NIU rewarding donations, even at the lower level. Not sure how many schools would do that. Made me feel my donation was appreciated, see what things have been done, where things are headed. Got an inside glimpse of how the program has progressed in a relatively short time.

One thing I don't get though is the whole season ticket sales pitch. Being loyal season ticket holders we are given exclusive rights to purchase tickets to an away stadium for 40 dollars. A stadium that will be half-filled with tickets at 20 dollars a pop on stubhub.

that is the same as bowl games.. We don't get to choose price for away games.

Season ticket pitch is simple..come to 3 games..cheaper to get season tickets..

Yeah but NIU is using the Northwestern game as their main sales pitch for season tickets "Get your rights to buy NW tickets". That is shameful IMO. Its like saying come to Walmart to secure your Target coupons.

No its not their main pitch to buy season tickets. The pitch for the NU game is to buy season tickets by April 30th so you can guarantee the right to purchase them.

We were on our way to the local bingo parlor when directions got all fouled up...

I use the ATM in the Grotto. I need the cash to use the vending machines in there. I usually drop a C note purchasing all sorts of paraphernalia from those machines!
