Adolf Hitler was born in Austria to a middle-aged civil service father and his much younger wife. Charlie Chaplin was 4 days old at the time. And later in the year my grandfather was born in Kent, England. 1889 was an eventful year for births.

RE: 125 Years Ago
But, as a guy once asked me when I was agonizing over a work-related decision "100 years from now, who will know the difference?"

And thinking back, except for a few historic figures and perhaps our direct ancestors, how many people who lived 100 years ago can you even name, much less recall anything that they did?

As the Bible says

Ecclesiastes 1

1 The words of the Teacher,[a] son of David, king in Jerusalem:

2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!”
says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”

3 What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?
4 Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.

What an uplifting thing to read on a Monday.

luckily so many people throughout history knew what a fallacy that statement is and bothered to take the time to agonize over things. It is what has changed the world many times over.

RE: 125 Years Ago
I know a bit about hundreds of people who were born 100 years ago, and much earlier, too. I like to think their lives are worth remembering.
