Season success?
Last year the team got an extra home game and went deep in the CIT(?), this past year they made the NCAA tournament and got thoroughly out classed in an early exit.

Which year was more of a success and which would you prefer of the two outcomes?

This year easily. Hardware means everything.

RE: Season success?
In some ways I would prefer a NIT or CBI/CIT bid. Extra home game and playing longer is preferable to being overwhelmed in an early exit. But the hardware point is very true.

Winning in Cleveland is better than winning 2-3 games in NIT/CIT/CBI

We won the MAC regular season and the tournament. This year definitely trumps last year.

RE: Season success?
The thing about the NIT... unless you win it, it kind of doesn't matter. I remember the NIT game vs. TCU ('05?) -- Ben Reed slipping on the wet floor in the final seconds and TCU escapes with a win and they're on to the quarterfinals at Madison Sq Garden. Had we at least gotten to NYC that year, that would have been an amazing year... it already was a GREAT season... but we just needed one more win.

Having said all that... pop question, who won THIS year's NIT?

To be honest, without Googling it, I have no idea.

RE: Season success?
This year was definitely more successful. You definitely want to be part of the real brackets that people talk about.

Getting trounced in the NCAAs (as tough as that was to stomach) is still preferable to a couple wins in the CIT/CBA. The experience for the players is great, and the media coverage leading up to the game is valuable. The Detroit rags barely bat an eyelash at the Michigan MAC schools, but there were about a half-dozen decent articles on WMU after the MAC tourney leading up to the NCAA.

99.99% of college players would say NCAA

We won the MAC in dramatic fashion. That alone was ten times cooler than the cbi.

Not even remotely close.

Of course! Fans too I hope. To get to the dance we won the MAC getting rid of long term demons and hopefully grew from that experience.

Think. Going to any of the others means we lost at Gund. smh.
