Rule #4 says that if you defend yourself you lose. Rule #6 pretty much says you shouldn't defend yourself if physically attacked. Rule #9 is just stupid and has a typo. Hell, all of these rules are idiotic.



Lincoln Public Schools officials apologized Wednesday for a flier about “turning bullies into buddies” that went home with Zeman Elementary fifth-graders, prompting complaints from parents and angry comments on Facebook.

"That list of 9 rules for dealing with bullies was hands down the worst advice any person could give to another," said one message on the LPS Facebook page.

Zeman Principal Donna Williams sent an electronic message to families apologizing for the flier, and the district posted the apology on its Facebook page.

Among other things, the flier advises not telling on bullies because “the number one reason bullies hate their victims is because the victims tell on them.” The flier goes on to say, “Telling makes the bully want to retaliate. Tell an adult only when a real injury or crime (theft of something valuable) has occurred. Would we keep our friends if we tattled on them?”

Did the teacher make those up or did the school get them from some program?

I ask because many schools hire out organizations to come into the schools and teach the kids about how to handle bullying.

We've had several people from Columbine come to our school and speak to our kids. Those kids from Columbine all have done very well for themselves creating programs from the tragedy they faced.

I think the students and their parents should advise the district to not retain the principal.

If I worked at that school I would openly bully the principle in front of everyone.

He is just taking his cue from BO.

Some people have it and some don't. Those who don't develop their own defense mechanisms. There is no one size fits all solution to "bullying".

Yep. That was my Dad's advice. I left one crying with a bloody nose. He later became one of my best friends.
